SweetEmi Posted December 3, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 3, 2005 I was reading the "Secrets" thread (great one BTW) and now have a couple of questions. 1. Does the Pride of Aloha have a 24-hour restaurant like the Blue Lagoon (which I dearly love)???? 2. Is it true that they no longer give the Coke cups with the Coke card? (I know I could look it up on NCL's website but you all are much better :D ) 3. Which of the restaurants are "Pay" ones and which one should we not miss? I really love Le Bistro on the Star...but generally we thoroughly enjoy all the "Pay" restaurants but this time, I will limit to only 1. 4. Does anyone have a link to the "must pack" items that I've seen on here before? I only have a week and I'm starting to go insane already. *smile* Thanks, ya'all and Aloha! kapoho2 Posted December 3, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 3, 2005 I can answer the coke cup question. I always buy the soda card and on the Wind in Sept. they did NOT give out the coke cups with the soda sticker. When I asked about it, they said it was an extra charge. I declined....as I have a line-up of the thermal coke cups here at home. Next cruise (Star to Mex. Riv in Apr.!!!) I will just throw one of those themal mugs in my bag. SweetEmi Posted December 3, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted December 3, 2005 I have several here too and I was wondering if I should bring one or not. I don't think I'll be buying a soda card this time though - not if they have gone up to $40. I think I better check on the website and see what the scoop is. SweetEmi Posted December 3, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted December 3, 2005 Yep, $5.75 a day or something like that - so it comes to $40...Nope - won't be doing that this time for sure. I'd rather eat at a specialty restaurant...lol!! I thought of another question though...Is there someone to park a rental car overnight in Kauai and Maui? I know this has been answered on here but I'm hoping someone will know off the top of their heads. Aloha, Emi

Emi, you can park in a small lot across from the pier gate @ Kahului, or on the street if not marked "No Parking". The area is run by the State DNLR, and I spoke with the Harbormaster a few months ago & got this info straight from him. When we drive you to the port next week we'll point out the parking areas. You'll have to let us know about parking @ Nawiliwili. :D Do hope you get some responses since we have the same questions re Blue Lagoon-style restaurant (isn't that the greatest---the Cadillac Diner on the PoAm is in the same league, but not 24/7) and specialty restaurants. I hope to have Freestyle Dailies on Monday when my colleages return to work, so may have more info then.
SweetEmi Posted December 4, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted December 4, 2005 Sandi: Thanks, remind me and I'll let you know what I find out about the parking on Kauai. I'm not 100% sure we'll rent a car on Maui...we might just walk where we can and then use the ship's facilities while it's quiet. *smile* Same when we are in Kona. Can't wait until your friends get back wtih the scope. Emi

Usually, I would recommend checking out the casino, but the POA doesn't have one.
Guest nhrich Posted December 6, 2005 #9 Share Posted December 6, 2005 Emi, there's parking right at the pier (inside security) on Kauai. Enjoy your cruise! Rich, ACC Carefree Vacations
SweetEmi Posted December 6, 2005 Author #10 Share Posted December 6, 2005 Sandi and Bob: Thanks a TON for scanning those, it was a huge help! Ron: Thanks you! That is great to know. I see from recent Dailies that the Kahili and the Pac Hts both had at least 2 days where the cover was 1/2 off and so therefore I think we may do them on those days if I can get reservations. But I do want to try the Bistro as it was my all time favorite on the Star. I also noticed that the Longboard Bar had "Lite menu fare" up until 2 a.m. or 3 a.m. - so I'll check them out late at night and see what they offer. Yes, no casino because we do not have gambling of any kind here. :) Rich: Wonderful!! That was very helpful info. It puts my mind at ease. Last cruise while in Kauai, I had a bit of a bad experience with getting back a little late, the car's air conditioner didn't work right and my friend wanted to make sure to complain, especially as we had upgraded to that broken car, and I'm sitting in the van to go back to the ship with about 5 other people all stressing out while my friend was in line inside to complain and have the upgrade charge removed. It was the worse time of my whole cruise. :( I mean she almost came to blows with some of the people in that van and I'm afraid I was on their side because at that point it was more important for me to get back to the ship than it was to get some of my charge dropped on the car.
