bogofman Posted August 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2017 We will be on the Equinox, in December and would like to go on the tour to chicken itza from Cozemel. Can those who have done this trip specifically with a celebrity tour, comment on the trip to the ruins and the length of time spent at the ruins, we will take tge tour that does not include a lunch stop to hopefully give us more time at the site Does the tour include free time at the site as well as the guided section. Rare keesar Posted August 21, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 21, 2017 You will have about an hour at the site. Plan on 2.5 to 3 hours each way in travel to/from the site. You have a ferry and then a bus. The ruins are really special and it will be a long day.

adonisr Posted August 21, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 21, 2017 We cruised on the Century years ago. Back then they had an excursion to Chichen Itza via a small plane from Cozumel. Much nicer than a 3 hr bus ride.

RichardE954 Posted August 21, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 21, 2017 When are you going? We will be on the Equinox sailing that departs Dec. 30. I too would like to do the ruins, but not if it's a 3 hour bus ride each way.
Verona Gal Posted August 21, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 21, 2017 We took this tour two years ago. It was a very long (more than 8 hours) day with not much time at the site. Celebrity literature stated that we would have two hours at the site but we only had 45 minutes including the only bathroom break of the day. It was certainly not worth the money or the time. We complained and received a full refund. Last year, when we were on the West Carib cruise, the ship stayed overnight so there was more time for the excursion. They even had one with a night visit to the site. It might be worth it if your ship is staying overnight.
