Catalonia Sagrada Familia Hotel in Barcelona, is this a safe area for solo female cruiser for 2 nites? Safe walking around? Cafes and shopping close by?

Other from TA cruise are staying here and I can share ride to port and probably have dinner with some of them.

Appreciate your help.

... sure it is safe, why shouldn't it? We don't have "no-go" areas here. Some might be better and appeal more than others but one can safely go anywhere in the city -this, of course, doesn't mean you don't need to be aware of your surroundings, this is, after all, a city with 2 million souls and, also, all sorts of people. But no guns or gangs, only petty theft occasionally :)

While the area of the hotel is not particularly central for the typical visitor, it's very easily reachable, with a number of metro and bus lines. As per cafes and shops, the city of Barcelona is not "radial" like many others, especially in the US, she instead grew throughout history out of absorbing existing towns and villages in the plane of Barcelona as she expanded and these are now are neighbourhoods of the city. Thus, while Plaça Catalunya is considered "the" centre of the city, there are in fact lots of other "centres" in those previously existing absorbed towns and they have their own "life" so to speak. Therefore, you'll find plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes, monuments (in many of them), parks, etc.

As an example, near your hotel, there are several very cosy streets, such as Carrer Rogent, a small pedestrianised street full of shops and lots of people strolling, especially in the evening. Also around Plaça del Mercat, where you'll find the neighbourhood's fresh food market.

Anyhow, as mentioned before, moving about in Barcelona is easy and fast via metro or bus -which, btw, for those not used to ride these, is cheap, clean, efficient, fast and completely safe- so why "stay" around your hotel when you can go anywhere in the city? Enjoy!
