You may have Jersey Transit plus cab options depending on where you're staying and how willing you are to hump your bags. Taxi is almost certainly the worst option as you're crossing state lines and livery/cab commission jurisdictions.
138east Posted September 4, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2017 When you arrive at EWR, you will have to take the Airtrain to P4 to connect with the hotel shuttle. This experience will show you one of the steps that would be involved with taking public transit to Manhattan. NJ Transit train from Newark Airport station is $13/pp (less for seniors and children). You would take your hotel shuttle to P4 and the Airtrain to the Newark Airport train station. When you arrive in NYC you would exit onto 8th Ave to get a cab to the port. Estimated cost for 3 people would be about $54. Airport bus to Port Authority Bus Terminal is $17 one way (less for seniors and children) and $28 round trip. You take your hotel shuttle to P4 and the Airtrain to any EWR terminal. When you arrive at PABT, you take a cab to the port. Estimated cost for 3 people is about $65. Get a quote from Dial7 and Carmellimo for the car service trip from your hotel to the port. Tolls should be $17-20. Expected tip is 20% of the base price.
