Very sad and tragic situation that is going to take much time to figure out the various port and sailing options. From the London/UK Daily Mail this morning, they have many pictures and details from what has hit St-Barts, plus the Dutch colony of Saint Maarten in the Caribbean. Enjoyed visiting both of these scenic locations for the first time in early 2015. Plus, having three days in San Juan during that trip. Below are four of their visuals from St-Barts and Saint Maarten.

Their latest story has this headline: Staring into oblivion: Bahamas, Dominican Republic and Turks and Caicos brace for impact with these highlights: The category 5 storm - the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic - howled past Puerto Rico with 185mph winds after reducing the tiny tropical islands of Barbuda and St Martin to rubble. They suffered the storm's full fury with 95 per cent of properties destroyed on both islands. Officials said at least eight people died on the French part of St Martin - a pristine resort known for its vibrant nightlife.

Panama Canal? Completed Feb. 28-Mar. 15, 2017, Fort Lauderdale to San Francisco adventure through the Panama Canal with our first stops in Colombia, Central America and Mexico, plus added time in the great Golden Gate City. Lots of fun, interesting pictures!! Those visuals start on the second page, post #26. See more at:

From the Daily Mail, here is one visual from St-Barts. We walked right by this one historic building. Remember this location and these sights very well in St-Barts!! Next are three of their visuals from Saint Maarten that give examples of the major damages there.:

CRUISE UPDATE FROM NCL on Facebook:

Hurricane Irma

Update #3

September 7, 2017 12:00 PM

Norwegian Cruise Line is continuing to closely watch the forecasted path of major Hurricane Irma. Further to our update yesterday, we have additionally canceled Norwegian Sky’s four-day cruise departing on Monday, September 11 from Miami. We will be providing a full refund to all guests, plus a 50% future cruise credit. All impacted sailings are as follows:

Amended Itineraries:

· Norwegian Escape’s seven-day Western Caribbean cruise departing September 2 from Miami is now a five-day Cruise, returning on the afternoon of September 7. For those guests who did not drive to PortMiami and are unable to secure a flight back home, we strongly encourage them to stay onboard the ship. Norwegian Escape will set sail from Miami on Thursday evening on a course away from the storm. While we are unable to confirm at this time when and where the ship will return to port, we welcome all guests to remain onboard to stay safe and secure.

· Norwegian Sky, Four-Day Cuba Cruise departing September 4 from Miami is now a three-day cruise, returning on September 7.

Cancelled Sailings:

· Norwegian Sky, September 8 from Miami

· Norwegian Escape, September 9 from Miami

· Norwegian Sky, September 11 from Miami

As the safety and security of our team members is our top priority, the company’s Miami headquarters will close at 2 PM on Thursday, September 7, 2017 and re-open as soon as it is safe and practical. To help ensure that we continue to operate with all the necessary shoreside support, key staff members are being relocated out of Miami and the storm zone. Our call centers will be operating remotely, so please be advised that hold times in our call center may be longer than normal. Our website will remain available 24/7. Travel Agents should use our dedicated booking portal on Norwegian Central and guests can view their booking information on the My NCL portal. As soon as this major weather event is clear of the region and we can bring our staff back to Miami, we will re-open the offices. Additional updates will be posted at NCL.com.

DO THE RIGHT THING NCL!!! Cancel the Sept 11 cruise to Cuba! Having NO UPDATES on this cruise and expecting to be at the Miami port Monday morning is crazy. There will be no way to travel to Miami to get there even if the damn ship can sail. Quit your greed!

Instead of putting the onus on NCL for your personal safety, check with your trip insurance provider to see if they can provide any assistance.

You did buy trip insurance, didn't you?

I am pretty sure in my update it said that the Sept 11 cruise was canceled. People need to check on NCL site for the minute by minute updates.

We are on the ship now. The captain, crew, communication, respect for safety, and the full handling we feel has been superior to this point. So good in fact we are almost waiting for the bad! God speed to our fellow cruisers who live in Florida. Be safe!
