Car rental for a day in Curacao?

FYI for end of December cruisers,

I just received an email from Celestino (Advance Car Rentals) regarding a 1day rental for Dec 26.

They do not do 1 day rentals the last 2 weeks of December because it is too busy but that for me to contact him before leaving on the cruise to see if he has a free car available.

Advance gets so many wonderful reviews on the internet that we reached out to them. They said they only take CASH. No credit card.  Anyone else experience this? I'm pretty hesitant now as you can imagine.

We thought it was odd about cash only, but remember, its cheaper for him.  

 

Ours was a perfect transaction with Frederico.  He was at the port waiting, gave us excellent instructions, gave us a GPS with locations of interest programmed, gave us a map with points of interest marked.  You don't get this superb service in the US.  And gave us a cell phone with his number programmed in.  He asked us to call him when we were about 30 minutes from the port.

 

We had a great time!  We gave him 5 stars on another website.  No worries!

I would agree with you except they quoted us double the price ($100 cash) than shows on their website ($55)!

Last comment, our quote was higher as well.  Our thoughts?  Taxes, fees, etc. always add to the cost.  Our Alamo rental in Fort Lauderdale was considerably higher than the web price, we just accepted as that's the way it is.
