CruzinKittie Posted September 24, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2017 I saw a lot of very unhappy people post about the Atlantis excursion on the Carnival page. What excursion did you do on Nassau/Freeport and was it worth the money??
dioxide45 Posted September 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2017 We have never been to Freeport, but have been to Nassau a few times. Are you interested in a beach experience or water park like Atlantis? For Atlantis, you may be better to find other ways to get a cheaper instead or paying Carnival prices. Some people book a room at the hotel or the Comfort Suites which also provides access to the facilities at Atlantis. If you are okay with a beach, we took the water taxi over to Paradise Island and then walked to Cabbage beach. Though taking a car taxi will be faster and much easier. Cabbage beach is right beside Atlantis, though you can't use facilities. When we walked from the water taxi dock, we along with the whole throng from the ferry followed some local guy. Just tip the guy a few bucks or otherwise you will get badgered till you do. If you want to avoid that, just take a regular taxi.
300dtc Posted September 24, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2017 We just did the self guided walking tour, the first time there. Second time went to pirates republic brewery and had a flight of beers. This time probably won't even get off. mikel24m Posted September 24, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2017 We have done British colonial Hilton day pass a few times, it's nice and a short walk from the pier. A big part of the day pass cost is given back in food and beverage credit to get lunch or drinks as well Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Forums mobile app
Towel Critter Posted September 24, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 24, 2017 We did the Atlantis excursion several years ago and really enjoyed it. I suppose it could have gone downhill since then. Things change, I guess

CruzinKittie Posted September 24, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted September 24, 2017 Our very good friends did the Atlantis excursion with their teen grandchildren this summer and had a GREAT time! :D I have since realized there are different ones and I was looking at the one with the waterpark. I'm interested in the one with just access to the hotel. Which one did your friend do?
Brooke71991 Posted September 24, 2017 #11 Share Posted September 24, 2017 I have did the atlantis excursion before. I really enjoyed it. While I admit I wished it had been a bit cheaper, I really enjoyed the water slides and the lazy river. I did not have issues with tubes like many people had. I grabbed a tube in the morning and rode the lazy river several times and loved it. I then rode all the rides that required a tube. Then I gave my tube away and ate a quick lunch. I went on all the slides that did not require a tube at that point. Then I went through the hotel, which has a gorgeous casino and atrium. Then we looked at the marine habitat. I did not go to the beach part of it. The excursion feels short simply because there was so much to do. But I printed out a layout of the park before ever going and had everything already planned and stuck to it. That allowed me to get the most out of it. I probably would not do it a second time purely because I hate the sun and I spent a lot of time in the sun while there. Some of the lines were quite long, but I never spent more than 30-40 minutes in line for any one slide.
dorchrislen Posted September 24, 2017 #12 Share Posted September 24, 2017 In Nassau we did the trip to Blue Lagoon with Carnival and were disappointed a bit. The tour advertised they would point out some sights and famous homes, which they never did. It was just a boring ride with no narration. The island is meh unless you like to pay for every entertainment and money is no object. We went for the snorkeling, but that area is small, with no lifeguard, and a bit more advanced than our liking because the current takes you our and around the rocks quickly and you can't get back in easily. Previously we also did Atlantis and thought it was worth it for the water park with lunch. But only if you are the first boat in and can get in quickly and on the slides before the masses; otherwise I would avoid it. In Freeport, we did a day pass at a Lucayan resort. It was okay if you just want a beach with some minimal activities.

JayDeeJay Posted September 24, 2017 #14 Share Posted September 24, 2017 In Nassau, Take a cab to cable beach and enjoy local cooking on the beach, it's wonderful. We also like Ardastra Gardens and Zoo. In Freeport, take local transportation to Port Lucaya and have fresh conch fritters and ice cold a Kalik beer at the first little restaurant on the right thru the entrance. It's also a lovely place to shop around little stores, good prices. Or go on the Gibbs Garden excursion, it goes to Lucaya as well, and Gibbs Gardens is a lovely place to tour. We enjoy the Nassau/Freeport cruise, and have done it several times now. ENJOY!!!
Katie62 Posted September 24, 2017 #15 Share Posted September 24, 2017 Native Quest is a great, fun excursion for all ages available from Carnival. At Fort Charlotte/Fort Darcy. Battlewagon Posted September 24, 2017 #17 Share Posted September 24, 2017 The walk to the liquor store to buy Bahamian produced rum, then back to the ship to enjoy the peace and quiet while most everyone is on shore.

Rare Silent Penguin Posted September 25, 2017 #19 Share Posted September 25, 2017 We're not beach people, but we like to snorkel. In Freeport, we thoroughly enjoyed our package tour with Chad4Nature. The day tour started and ended right at the port. The group maximum could have been enough to fill the van, but as it turned out, dh and I were the only guests on our particular day's excursion. Our guide took us sight seeing, shopping (tailored to our taste), on a nature walk, and snorkeling at Deadman's Reef at Paradise Cove. Snorkeling equipment and lunch were included. We couldn't have been happier with our guide and the value of the excursion.
bwaz Posted September 25, 2017 #20 Share Posted September 25, 2017 Blue Hole Watersports is an excellent company if you are interested in an independent snorkeling or boating excursion. You meet them at the British Colonial Hilton, a short walk from the pier. Check out their reviews on Tripadvisor. We loved our trip with them. joeyjpaul Posted September 25, 2017 #24 Share Posted September 25, 2017 We had a group of 8 in Nassau, and we arranged a private boat that took us to an island with a beach not far away where we were able to snorkel and he even had a tube to do tube rides (Getting salt water splashed in your face is not as fun as fresh water back home). I think it came out to about $600 for the 8 of us.

I sent a message on Facebook but after I sent it a message popped up saying the company usually takes a week or more to respond. Thanks!
