cruisin0504 Posted December 7, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 7, 2005 This is the first that we have heard of framed balconies - which is what we are booked for at this time. It appears that we can't change it - so please tell us - how much does it change the enjoyment of a balcony???
WaldosPepper Posted December 7, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 7, 2005 Please pardon my ignorance, but what is a framed balcony?
cruisin0504 Posted December 7, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted December 7, 2005 I too had never heard of a framed balcony until yesterday. It is basically a regular balcony that has a smaller opening due to a metal frame that surrounds it. It appears that they are mostly on the lower and/or forward balconies, at least on the Jewel. cul8er Posted December 7, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 7, 2005 They seem to be more private, as on the regular balconies a neighbor could just lean around the partition and be looking right into your cabin. On the framed balconies (deck 8 forward, for instance, aft of the five oceanview cabins) it seems as if nobody could look into your balcony or room from another balcony. cruisin0504 Posted December 7, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted December 7, 2005 Thanks, for pointing that out - it does seem to be true. I am sure that once we are on board we won't be disappointed.
Tomcruiser48 Posted December 7, 2005 #6 Share Posted December 7, 2005 I had one of these cabins on the Dawn last year. You may get a bit more shade. The opening is Closed in maybe a foot on all 4 sides. I booked the same cabin for my next cruise, yup i liked it that way. 45 days to go.
robyn525600 Posted December 7, 2005 #7 Share Posted December 7, 2005 I had one of these on the Dawn as well. Didn't mind it at all and I found it to be less windy than the more open balconies. Hope this helps!

FunInTheCaribbean Posted December 8, 2005 #9 Share Posted December 8, 2005 We are booked in 10006 & 10010 for this Sunday (WOOHOO!! 4 more days) on the Jewel and we too have this framed balcony. At first I was disappointed I had booked these cabins, but really, what's so different about it? The size is the same and it appears to have more privacy. So I stopped worrying about it. I'm sure we'll love our cabins and the vacation!
