claudiaj Posted December 7, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 7, 2005 We are flying into Ft Lauderdale on Dec 23 and need to transfer to Miami. RCCL offeres the transfers for $40.00 per person roundtrip-does anyone know if this is the most cost effective and efficient way of doing this. Thanks Claudiaj
FJTinSC Posted December 7, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 7, 2005 The last time we flew into FLL, and left from teh port of Miami, on Voyager, we used a limo service. We had 4 people, and the limo was only $70.00 each way. The company was Elite Limo in FLL...GREAT service!!
cmason Posted December 7, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 7, 2005 I rented a car from Hertz, go it for $40 each way. That worked out to $10 each person, each way. Best deal I could find.
DEL67 Posted December 7, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 7, 2005 We usually rent a car. Returning it can be a nuisance, but it beats standing around waiting for them to fill a bus. In addition it allows us to stio at a market and buy water.

Thanks Claudiaj Airport Express is a share ride that you just pick up curbside. Last year it was $17pp one way. They do not have this going from MIA to FLL (I don't believe), but I would just grab a cab (fastest way) which is $65 or get the RC transfer for one way if you're not in a hurry. TrentS Posted December 8, 2005 #7 Share Posted December 8, 2005 Renting a car is usually the least expensive way... If you do rent a car though and park it at your hotel overnight rather than returning it immediately you'll also want to check and see what they charge for overnight parking - Some have free parking, however some charge in excess of $20. If you don't want to deal with the hassle of a rental car, a shared van service is usually your next cheapest option - From FLL that's Tri-County/Airport Express... http://www.floridalimo.com/ We also use Larry's Limo... http://larryslimo.com/ Both of those companies are reliable, reputable local companies. The thing you do NOT IMO want to do is take a taxi between FLL and Miami, cab fares have recently gone up and they cost as much as a TownCar will cost between Miami and FLL, and are a whole lot less comfortable. Cruise line transportation is not fun either - The shared van service or rental car are almost always cheaper than cruise line transportation, and you can sit there for an hour, crammed into a bus waiting for it to fill up before you leave. CRUSINGFAMILY Posted December 9, 2005 #9 Share Posted December 9, 2005 We were just there in Nov. Fort Lauderdale has a new car rental terminal right in the airport for all rental companys. If you use Alamo you can book on line, get a deal, checkin on line and pay ahead and save 15%. When you get there you just pick a car and show the attendant at the gate your paper work and he will scan the documents and off you go. You return to the Miami Alamo car return and the attendant will check you out with the automated attendant and you jump on the bus and they will take you to the ship. My midsize car was $31.00 with tax. We had a brand new mini van, it was in the midsize section because they were short of cars I guess.a
bigsteve5 Posted December 9, 2005 #10 Share Posted December 9, 2005 We arrive in FLL on the 23rd, looking forward to boarding the Voyager of the Seas the next day. We have reservations with Absolute Limousine to take our group of six to Port of Miami from our FLL hotel. Having had no prior experience with that company, we are hoping for the best.
