lauraapp Posted October 5, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2017 My understanding this just means metal sides...are all the cabins on Eclipse have the same siding?
spendless Posted October 5, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2017 In general 50% metal 50% glass apart from the last couple port and starboard at the stern which look good but should be avoided.

Why do you think they should be avoided? Don't the last ones have a nice view forward and the balcony is bigger and on a slant?
spendless Posted October 5, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 5, 2017 A Sixth? - As an example, I booked cabin 7354 last year because the balcony looked bigger. The right hand side was complete steel and you could only look astern by leaning over the hand rail. The ceiling covered most of the balcony blocking out the sun whereas all of the other balconies we have had are only about 50% covered. It does make a difference. rubydoobydoo Posted October 5, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 5, 2017 We had 2138 on Eclipse and we Had the overhang on the balcony Good if you want shade but not so good if you are a sun lover

Happy Cruiser 6143 Posted October 5, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 5, 2017 Why would you not want the sides of your balcony to be metal panels? Would you want them to be glass so the people next door can see you???

On decks 9 & 10, the last cabin on each side , on our 14 day southern in 1/18, costs $550/pp more than the cabin in front of it - good reason to avoid it ! Hydrokitty Posted October 5, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 5, 2017 We had 2 sunset cabins on Eclipse last year and loved them...steward removed the.metal wall (we were traveling with DD and SIL) while we were at dinner first night giving us a bslcony for 4 and access to each other's rooms from balcony. Balcony is shaded but on Caribbean cruise we kind of liked sitting in the shaded warmth and the view was amazing. Unobstructed for 180°.
