redhead337 Posted December 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2005 Has anyone stayed here? Is it walking distance to shops, restaurants and shopping?
Bequia Posted December 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2005 Great location, lousy hotel. You can do better unless you just want to party all night long and crash afterward it probably wouldn't make a difference. :p
TrentS Posted December 8, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 8, 2005 I agree... The location is fine, but the hotel isn't.
BlueHerons Posted December 8, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 8, 2005 It's been a couple of years since I've been in the hotel. Has it really gone downhill that much? Or has it been longer than a couple of years since I've been in the hotel and it is one of the original South Beach renovations and needs an update on its update. redhead337 Posted December 9, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted December 9, 2005 Is it that bad? I have an oceanfront double booked at a rate of $290 per night for 5 people. 4 adults and our 9 yr old grandson, I wanted him to be on the beach. Is it a safe place? Close enough to walk to restaurants and shopping??? Or is it bad enough that I should look at something else? Please help, I've never been to Miami so I have no clue. Thank You
signman Posted December 9, 2005 #6 Share Posted December 9, 2005 What are your dates. Perhaps you can spend just a little more and have a fabulous stay at the Loews Miami Beach.
TrentS Posted December 9, 2005 #7 Share Posted December 9, 2005 The location is fine, it's within easy walking distance of shopping and dining, but it's not a nice hotel anymore - IMO it's gotten pretty bad and needs to be completely remodeled. Yes, I would spend a bit more and go with a nicer hotel, you'll be a LOT happier. palmtre2 Posted December 9, 2005 #8 Share Posted December 9, 2005 ALWAYS check tripadvisor.com before booking anything. Take the reviews with a grain of salt but if anything concerns you call the hotel. I booked a hotel in SoBe that I found out was between 2 of the hottest niteclubs in town. Thru the reviews I found out they issued earplugs at the front desk because of the noise. I called the hotel and they confirmed that was true - I cancelled the families booking immediately!!!! redhead337 Posted December 15, 2005 Author #10 Share Posted December 15, 2005 Our dates are Jan 21-23 I've been checking at other oceanfront hotels but can't get anything close to the rate I have. We have a deluxe double oceanfront room with a balcony for 290 a night. Everything else seems to be over 300 and most of those are run of the house or city views. Any other thoughts...suggestions.
