numberguy Posted October 26, 2017 #354 Share Posted October 26, 2017 The adults pool is a uniform 6’ 8”, so unless you are an NBA Star you may not be able to touch bottom. I seem to remember, either on this review or another, seeing a picture of the crew training in this pool. It could be that it serves double duty that way--fun (?) for the adult swimmers, yet deep enough for survival training for the crew. --Michael
Rare mking8288 Posted October 26, 2017 #355 Share Posted October 26, 2017 By staying onboard today, you have a prime spot to cheer for (and, boo) any pier runners late in returning to the ship ... hopefully, none will be left behind along with their luggage. Sadly, we watched that happened before from above after hearing their names paged/announced over P.A. to contact guest services, usually T-minus 15 minutes to scheduled sailing time ... just in case, they somehow avoided ship security & slipped back onto the ship or what not. As for that pool depth, I dig back into my collection of BA photos - take a look at this pictures taken at night when they're draining the pool for maintenance, with the safety netting on top ... the pool was marked at about 5' only - is it 6' 8" toward the deep end ?? As for training crew members on water/life safety - what & how do other ships do theirs with more "shallow" pools ? https://www.dropbox.com/s/072qfpillqen9tg/IMG20150323_2354%20%281024x768%29.jpg?dl=0 Here's a good one from 2015 - singing chefs and gallery team, coming thru Taste & Savor for a farewell ... different than the traditional NCL "Home away from home" on stage (like the old version better) - white handkerchief waiving, almost feel like being on a Carnival ship for that few minutes. Haven't seen that repeated since then, let's see if you can spot them. https://www.dropbox.com/s/rlxzl92eimudcko/IMG20150327_1958.jpg?dl=

The deep pool we are talking about is the main adult pool. It is a great picture though. Sent from my SM-G935V using Forums mobile app

Sent from my SM-G935V using Forums mobile app Hmmm, you are probably right, it's been a while & we don't spend time on the pool deck, wet & crowded on sea days - BIL like to be upstairs, especially with the BBQ thing going. They probably don't fill that pool all the way to the brim - but a water depth of 4' 9" or even 4' 6" for kids, 12 & under ?? is just   especially - given all the incidents that unfortunately, do happen from time to time ... knock on wood, most are back in schools. 3' to 4' of water is plentiful deep for kids to play with and discourage attempts to dive in for fun, despite & no matter what the posted warning signs say, supervised or not. Witnessed a near drowning 25' in front of us at GSC that year, watchful mom was 5' away with her back turned, distracted, and a beverage in hand with someone else - all in silence @ the smaller lagoon & not much of a crowd, thanks to an alert pax standing nearby - faster than the Lifeguard can jump off the high chair. I do have a video of them standing on the top of the raft which is turned over and they pull on straps to flip it over.
