bUU Posted November 1, 2017 #26 Share Posted November 1, 2017 Yes, and really the question in this thread is which other cruise line does better at the same price point. None do. The price point is set based on the service spec and the value of the service that that spec affords. This message may have been entered using voice recognition. Please excuse any typos. Ziggy7 Posted November 1, 2017 #28 Share Posted November 1, 2017 Yes, Yes, Yes That’s why we cancelled our January cruise going to San Juan and St. Maarten. Sure, there might be some shops in the port area open, but that doesn’t mean that tourist sites and attractions will be up and running. I think it’s disingenuous for cruiselines to include these ports on their itineraries when they will have so little available for guests. And this is why the world is they way it is today! sheesh! Ziggy7 Posted November 1, 2017 #29 Share Posted November 1, 2017 Carnival did not change our ports.... but I thought those islands were in bad condition. In January we're going to Grand Turks, Puerto Rico, St. Marteen and St. Kitts. Sent from my iPhone using Forums I think by then the tourist areas and excursion areas will be ready by then, if not the itinerary will be changed. I am cruising in January to some of these ports as well and so far the reports from islanders who live there have been good . Will they be fully recovered No, as that will take years if ever but will you have a good visit there, time will tell :)
bUU Posted November 1, 2017 #30 Share Posted November 1, 2017 So glad we have you around to 'keep us all in line' and 'on topic' too .....LOL!!I strive to be of service to others. It seems like you want to go in a different direction. I think by then the tourist areas and excursion areas will be ready by then, if not the itinerary will be changed. The problem is that "ready" is subjective. I believe we can rest assured that there will be at least one January cruise passenger who will feel that their ports were not "ready". With something like mass-market cruises, "ready" pragmatically has to be defined by the island's officials and the cruise lines and an objective administration of the terms and conditions of the cruise contract, since there's no way that a mass-market offering can be dictated by each individual customer. So carnival should have lowered the price, that would have been nice. Carnival has only lowered the price a few times for the lower categories. Most areas are sold out so we won't benefit from the price change. I figured that out a few months ago. I was annoyed because now I will not get a better deal unless I get a lower category. bUU Posted November 2, 2017 #32 Share Posted November 2, 2017 So carnival should have lowered the price, that would have been nice. Consumers will always consider getting a lower price to be a nice thing, but nothing about this situation called for that.
