Local Flavor

We are looking for restaurants in Charlotte Amalie that are considered "local favorites" as opposed to "tourist favorites". We are looking for real local flavor as we believe the best way to experience a port is to be with the people that live in the port. Local flavor and cold beer along with warm smiles go a long way to making lasting memories.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Crabbe's on Back Street is fairly new but the locals have known the chef from his previous restaurants. It's not inexpensive, though.

Sugarcane Grille in the Bunker Hill Hotel is another good option. They recently opened a new deli at street level.

Across from the courthouse is a tiny eateries with just a few outdoor seats. Karen's Place is the name, I think.
