gone_cruisin Posted December 11, 2005 #1 Share Posted December 11, 2005 Looking for a place to snorkel within walking distance of the pier. Heard about Cali wreck, Eden Rock and Cheeseburger Reef. How close are these and are we able to snorkel straight from the shore (without a tour)? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
quiltsnh Posted December 11, 2005 #2 Share Posted December 11, 2005 We walked about 10 minutes to the left as you get off the tender to Eden Rock.... We found the snorkeling to be great. Stairs into the water are easy. They have picnic tables/bathrooms/ rentals, food and a small sandy area. The fish were incredible it doesn't hurt that they feed them!!!! If you snorkel out there are some large coral heads...We had our own equipment so we just rented vests and had sodas so it was fairly inexpensive.. suebee53 Posted December 14, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 14, 2005 Here's what Eden Rock looks like from the nearby Paradise Grill: http://www.snapfish.com/slideshow/AlbumID=30144186/PictureID=854736068/a=4349252_4349252/t_=4349252 Sue
bruce-r Posted December 14, 2005 #5 Share Posted December 14, 2005 Map to eden rock if you tender to Georgetown. It is my understanding that the dock at Spots bay is only used when the weather makes tendering into Georgetown a bad idea.
serene56 Posted December 15, 2005 #6 Share Posted December 15, 2005 from the above map it looks like we can walk there. Could we? how far of a walk is it?
bruce-r Posted December 16, 2005 #7 Share Posted December 16, 2005 from the above map it looks like we can walk there. Could we?I think that is what most cruiser do. how far of a walk is it?2-3 blocks, and certainly under 1/2 mile.
tunafish Posted December 16, 2005 #8 Share Posted December 16, 2005 the walk is 3 minutes if so. There is a trick - you have to swim 30-50 yards offshore to see the coral. You'll see some fish right by the entrance, then sandy bottom and gain in depth and lots of people stop here, but the coral is further down. have fun it is close and free.
