Obstructed View Balcony 7016

We were just on the Pride of America and got an Obstructed View Balcony for a couple hundred dollars less than an inside cabin. However, it was a “sail away” deal so we got no extras with it. Considering the Pride of America doesn’t have a unlimited drink package, we really didn’t mind. 7016.

PROS:

The room was decent in size but came with a strong mildew smell which also wasn’t a big deal because we had prepared for that (brought air fresheners). The balcony is HUGE and since it’s “obstructed” we had lots of shade and also lots of sun (depending on the time of day).

The views from the balcony were amazing. The balcony is larger than the standard balcony.

We hung a hammock up in the balcony and used it every single day.a9b13f548364b92a40cc3bc187c25d8d.jpg4e8b4eedb8f0d2606bc374781dbc1943.jpg5fe2b9c9a4c55d167f05fa1a201cc27a.jpg

Cute decor and lots of mirrors.

CONS:

It’s located right over one of the theaters so there’s a lot of noise.

Bathrooms on this ship are *tiny* compared to the rest of the NCL fleet and our whole section struggled to get hot water.

Mildew smell (yuck!)

We felt like the bed was extra uncomfortable.

If it’s choppy, you’ll feel it more because you’re practically at the bow of the ship. Especially in November/December.

Not necessarily a con but we didn’t feel like the balcony railing would be safe for small children (see picture).

Overall this cabin was totally worth. The obstructed view just means it has a slight over hang which we actually preferred.

If we went on this ship again I think we’d select the same type of cabin on the 8th floor but I don’t think you can pick your cabin on the “sail away” deals. Bummer.

For the Latitudes Rewards cocktail party, it was located at the bow, outside, where the crew pool is. We had to hunt down tickets since they don’t deliver them to the stateroom. Pretty annoying since the CruiseNext rep was never around.

Overall, great trip, loved the room despite the cons. Would definitely cruise this trip/ship again.
