I am looking at booking a interior room on symphony. I can do 2 staterooms for only few dollars difference from 1. However I am wondering about the very slim chance that I can get an upgrade. Would I be able to upgrade from 2 rooms to 1 (nonrefundable deposit)? If I were to upgrade the rooms individually would I be able to find rooms together? Also sometimes 3rd and 4th passenger go on sale so I would loose that if I did 2 rooms. I know you can not predict the future but I would love to hear your experiences and opinions.

Changing from two cabins of double occupancy to one quad cabin is an entirely new booking, and would like entail cancelling and rebooking. You would likely lose at least one cabin's deposit.

Free upgrades are as rare as hen's teeth. Being able to upgrade yourself is dependent on pricing.

Quad cabins can disappear as cruise dates get closer. Are you sailing during a school holiday?

If the price difference is small, as you noted, I would stick with two cabins. Having two bathrooms is a wonderful luxury.

For my family, two rooms equals happy vacation. We need "our space". Only you can determine that value. We have a 17 y/o and now 20 y/o daughters. For some time I'd rather not go if I had to share... but, I still want the rooms together. I totally understand. Good luck and enjoy!!!
