Stavanger and Skudenshavn

We are contemplating a cruise that gets into Stavanger around 7am and departs around 4pm. We'd like to visit family heritage sites in Skudenshavn. The drive would be 2h 13m in what looks to be an indirect routing. Is there any chance we could hire a boat that might get us from Stavanger to Skudenshavn quicker?

 

If not, any suggested Stavanger car rental places close to port? Or bus options?
