Best beach day not snorkeling

We are first timers to Roatan visiting in January. We just want a relaxing beach day with beautiful water, nice sand beach and access to food. We are not snorkeling so won't need that. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks! P.S. I am spoiled by St Thomas and St John beaches so wondering if something comes close to that in Roatan.

No, you aren't going to find white powder sand beaches on Roatan anywhere. But the beaches are nice on the West End of the island, West Bay, etc. Roatan is part of Honduras, which is a 3rd world country, very poor and very rustic. As long as you don't expect modern and fancy like St Thomas you will be fine.

I have been the Virgin Islands, I don't remember any of the beach sand being any more white and fluffy than West Bay Beach. Perhaps I was not paying as much attention or perhaps perception comes in to play.

 

To the OP ~ West Bay Beach is the premiere beach on the island with resorts/day passes and food options, if it does not live up to the Virgin Islands nothing on Roatan will. If your ship is docking in Mahogany Bay, the cruise port has a beach has well.
