noptimusprime Posted December 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Going on my first Windstar ship soon and I wanted to know where exactly the ship docks in Bora Bora? Does it actually dock somewhere so passengers can leave the ship? Or is it in the open water with little boats taking passengers to the main island? vlaurend Posted December 9, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 9, 2017 (edited) Yes, but on the southern end of the town of Vaitape. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ferry+And+Boat+Point/@-16.5031877,-151.7582704,1716m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m21!1m15!4m14!1m6!1m2!1s0x76bdbce065555555:0x11d0117e4b37a056!2sRestaurant+St+James,+centre+helene's+bay,+Vait%C4%81p%C4%93+98730,+French+Polynesia!2m2!1d-151.7523074!2d-16.5000726!1m6!1m2!1s0x76bdbce0ae51e695:0x345c10e5802d697b!2sFerry+And+Boat+Point,+Vaitape,+French+Polynesia!2m2!1d-151.7526644!2d-16.5068582!3m4!1s0x76bdbce0ae51e695:0x345c10e5802d697b!8m2!3d-16.5068574!4d-151.7526644 I highly recommend taking a bus for 500XPF (or US$5.00) or a taxi south from Vaitape to Matira Beach. Also, on the day of the evening BBQ event, you will probably be given the option to tender back and forth to the private motu (Motu Tapu, the tiny reef island at the far left on the aerial image, on the south side of the pass) until around 2:30pm. There won't be any food service or drinks there, but the watersports guy will be there with the kayaks and paddleboards and you'll get the island practically to yourself, since a lot of the Windstar passengers aren't aware that they have this option and will have booked tours. Once you board, you can ask the cruise director (Martina, if it's the same blonde Macedonian woman we had a few weeks ago) exactly what your options are for tendering to Motu Tapu.
