Hotels In Miami In March

Monthend

Recommended Posts

I booked air arriving on March 24 and sailing on March 26. I hadn't counted on the prices of hotels during that time. Those in the $200 range ( I previously stayed in Dec for $75) are actually unavailable. The ones with vacancies are running $400-$500. I don't need to be hanging over the beach but would like to be able to get around without renting a car.

Any ideas?

I just got it last week on Howire for $ 173 per night- and I took the $ 30 off coupon from the Entertainment book and was already emailed that they credttied my card. It came up as a 4 star resort- I am going Feb 17-19. I hope this helps you

Monthend - You're coming during the absolute most expensive time of year when everything is full or close to it. The weather is typically spectacular then though! :) The decent less expensive places tend to fill up first of course. If you don't want to rent a car and are spending 2 nights, South Beach would be the better place to stay, but also try downtown Miami and if you wanted to go to South Beach it's a quick/cheap cab ride over there. Coconut Grove and Coral Gables are also nice areas with shopping and dining closeby. I'll just list all the hotels in the area that I like and know to be nice...

I can't believe how bad this is. I tried all the hotels on the list and they are either booked or in the $300 range. Also one night cancellation fee.

Trent- do you rent rooms? Seriously though, if I rented a car and drove a half hour or so away could I get something more reasonable?

Renting a car may be your only option. Have you checked hotel sites directly, ie marriott.com, hilton.com, etc? If you enter "miami" they will list pretty much all of they're properties in the region. You may end up west of the airport but you'd still be only 30 minutes from the port.

Checking hilton.com for your dates I found the Embassy Suites Airport for $144, Hampton Inn on Brickell Ave for $149, Hampton Inn NW 41st $139. The marriott prices are all pretty high for your dates.

Hollywood Beach, just right over the Miami-Dade/Broward County line will be a little more reasonable.

The Mirador Motel in Hollywood Beach, while not on the beach but within spitting distance, is a great, inexpensive mom and pop motel. I stayed there a while back and while it screams 1955, it is clean and has full kitchens/efficiencies.

Try www.Sunny.org for the greater Ft.Lauderdale area.

LOL, sorry no...

Renting a car and staying in an area farther out or in a lesser quality hotel may be your only option then. Unfortunately it's prime time when you're coming and the prices and occupancies are the highest they've been in years.

I only list the hotels that I am familiar with and know to be decent places, but there are hundreds of others. Some I don't list because I don't like them, but there are hundreds more that I haven't been in and don't know anything about.

Whatever you do though, read Trip Advisor's reviews of whatever else you're looking at. You can get a general idea if a place is decent or it's a nasty, scary dump in a dangerous neighborhood... http://www.tripadvisor.com/

I just bid $150 for Sheraton Bal Harbour and got it for March 24-26. Guess I will need a car. Where is the best place to pick up car. Should I pick up at airport and then return there and get a cab to the pier?

That's a nice hotel, great location! Directly across the street from Bal Harbour Shops... http://www.balharbourshops.com/

A taxi up there and back could be a bit pricey, and there's not a whole lot to walk to other than in the very upscale Bal Harbour Shops. The area is mostly condos. Having a rental car would be very convenient to have unless you just wanted to eat in the hotel. Yes, you can pick up a rental car at the airport, but you don't necessarily need to take a cab back to the port. Some rental car companies will shuttle you from their MIA airport locations to the port. Hertz & Avis (opening in January) also have downtown Miami locations.

Thanks Trent!! That's good to know. I'll have to look into that. How long a ride is it from the airport to the hotel?

Figure about 45-60 minutes from MIA to Bal Harbour on average. The time of day can make a huge difference though, during "rush hour" all bets are off.

SDN - For $1 more the Sheraton Bal Harbour is a much nicer hotel, it's a beautiful resort on a gorgeous beach in one of the more expensive neighborhoods in South Florida.

.

The only mall I've ever been in that not only has valet parking but they wash your car for you!

If you want to shop there, go ahead and mortgage your home and sell a kidney:D
