Deer Island, Mazatlan -- how is it?

I've seen the chats on the different Mazatlan hotel beaches (Golden Zone), and Stone Island...but does anyone know anything about - or recommend - Deer Island?

 

And, does El Cid - constantly mentioned in Mazatlan discussions - get overly crowded? Or is it ideally located at the Golden Zone, regardless of crowds?

 

One more...if Randi is reading this...where are your horse tours offered? I haven't searched for you yet, as my husband is not a big horse person - but you and your tours sound great!!
