Taking drinks into your stateroom?

On a previous thread a while ago I read where a couple had brought wine on board with them and the day after the first bottle was finished the DH took both cards to the bar the next afternoon while his DW was elsewhere on the ship and got two glasses of wine, brought them back to the cabin and used a funnel they have brought with to pour the wine into the empty bottle. He repeated this about 30 minutes later, corked the bottle and then that night they enjoyed a couple glasses on their balcony without ever leaving their room. I think I'll pack a funnel next time :D

My husband often takes my card with his and orders two drinks ..........and when we don't have drink plan we have purchased wine and soda and brought in back onboard....just thing about it now, on 2 other lines have done the same and it is usually San Juan . we go to the Walgreens at top of the hill...we have done it 5 timed now......lol

Good idea !!

Also, if you are in a suite. You can ask your Butler to fetch the drinks for you and deliver them to you on your balcony. Oh ... how I love cruising !

Are you saying that if you have a drink package and your in a suite the butler will go and get you drinks? I have booked a suite for the first time for November.......Never had a butler , so I don't know what this person can do for you besides what a regular room attendant does.

Welcome to the suite life !

Your Butler can ...

  • unpack your suitcases (we never have him do this !)
  • Bring you canapes and other goodies (we always ask for special stuff every day around 4:00)
  • press your clothes
  • laundry and dry cleaning
  • serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner in your suite (we do this sometimes)
  • shoe shines
  • find you at the pool at bring you drinks (some Butlers really don't like to do this)
  • make dinner reservations for you
  • invite friends to dinner with very special invitations
  • make excursion reservations
  • make spa reservations
  • run errands to the shops, store rooms, etc (such as ... oops, I forgot toothpaste or sunscreen )
  • stock your mini bar
  • fetch drinks (My wife likes a Cafe Mocha every morning around 8. The Butler brings it with a smile !)
  • pack your suitcases
  • hold seats for you in the "suite only" section of the theater on special nights
  • make "special occasions" REALLY, REALLY special
  • handle special dinner requests (vegetarian, allergies, gluten free, or just a special dish, etc)
  • set the suite mood lighting for when you return from dinner
  • handle guest services inquiries (don't stand in line on deck 3, let him take care of it)
  • and many, many other things that make your cruise special

Remember, Butlers aren't your slave. They are real people that need to feel appreciated too. I have seen fellow cruisers abuse butlers. Please don't abuse your butler. And ... your Butler will have other suites that need him too,

A thank you and a smile will really go a long way. :)

Our butler has set up breakfast on the balcony with a table cloth. Brought us the restaurant menu's so we can decide what restaurant we wanted him to book for us. Menus's are also in Michael's Club. Our butler would bring us cappuccino's. The number one thing about having a butler for us is walking us through customs or temperature check, picking up passports, setting up in suite parties with invitations sent out. I have never asked our butlers to go get us a drinks off our seapass cards.

Thanks for the info.

Sometimes we like room service on sea days for lunch just to get a break from the people so that will stay the same..And dinner in the room sounds great , some days you have just done to much and can't be bothered....

I didn't even know there was a suite area in the theater...It has always been grab seats where you can and hopefully people aren't trying to save 6 seats at time.....I did notice this past cruise if you get stuck sitting more than 4 people in from the end the waiters would just look at you and keep walking and not provide you service......we found it was getting to be quite rude in the theater.

On Celebrity ships, on "Chic Nights", the Butlers will usually reserve a section of the Theater for "Suite Guests Only". They will also reserve your preference of seats for you (if you ask your Butler), escort you to your seats, and bring you drinks.

Though they do deliver tea and coffee, I doubt you can ask the butlers to fetch you alcoholic drinks on a regular basis unless you're staying in the Penthouse or other upper-level suite. For those of us in lowly Sky Suites, my understanding (from them and from here) is that they don't do that. The items in the mini bar are also not covered by your beverage package, nor are drinks from room service. They do deliver room service, so perhaps they'd let you buy some that way that they'd then deliver but that seems like a waste of the package. They might even offer to deliver some cocktails on a one-off basis, but my understanding is that it's not anything to be expected on a regular basis.

Regarding butlers delivering alcoholic beverages, this is NOT a published (i.e. guaranteed) suite perk or something one should expect will be done. However some butlers do go above-and-beyond and offer to do this (or sometimes even notice what you like to drink and leave extras in your stateroom). One can certainly ask their butler if they are willing to do this; but be prepared for a possible "no" as if they stick to company policy, no will be the response.

Think of it this way. Stop at the 1st bar. Get 2 drinks with your cards. Have one of you hold the 1st 2 drinks and the other person stops at 2nd bar with 2 seapass cards and pick up 2 more drinks. Then go to your balcony each with 2 drinks. You can also go to the Oceanview Cafe and make up some appetizers for the balcony. Enjoy your cruise.

Have used this approach often. Works very time!!!

Wife & I will be on Solstice March / April - our first ever cruise

can we order drinks at the bar and take them back to our stateroom? or do they have to be consumed at the bar?

We would like relax on our balcony with a drink or 2 and are wondering if you're allowed to do this

thanks in advance

Yep, we do it all the time.
