Hop77 Posted January 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2018 Hi, I read on the terms and condition saying that if we make changes on sail date or select new another ship, there is a service charge fee of $100 per person. If we cancel the booking before payment date, we will not get back any deposit amount which is $100 per person but this will be converted to credit which is usable on our next booking. So, if I need to change a sail date, then I simply cancel my current one. Incur the $100 credit and then make a new booking. Does this means using this method, no service charge fee? Thanks
Geldhart Posted January 9, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2018 There is no cash refund of the deposit. Any change to the ship and/or sail date results in a $100 per person penalty, which is removed from your credit. Here is an example with easy number. Cruise price is $2500 for 2 people (total). It had a $500 deposit. It is before final payment, and you have already paid $1100 towards the cruise, leaving a balance of $1400. You cancel. You get $600 back (what you paid over the deposit). From your deposit, you get a $300 credit towards a future cruise, the other $200 is kept by RCL.

Thanks How about if I cancel way before first payment like when there is still many weeks more than 90days before departure? Do I still incur the $100 fine? Do I still incur the $100 fine? I believe so since it is a non-refundable deposit on the cruise, no matter when cancelled. You will still incur a $100 penalty per person. geomancer Posted January 9, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 9, 2018 Should also add that the credit must be used within 1 year of when it's issued.
Geldhart Posted January 9, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 9, 2018 Your first payment is the deposit. No other payments are required until the final payment deadline. With the non-refundable deposit option, once you pay the deposit you are committed to the penalties. Thus is why for our 2019 cruise we are booked under the refundable rules. Not enough difference in price to take a chance. Sent from my LG-H831 using Forums mobile app
smarcbie Posted January 9, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 9, 2018 One More Question, Please... If you make a $500 deposit for two on a 7-day cruise and one person cancels, would you forfeit $100? Would the remaining $150 be applied to the balance?
Geldhart Posted January 9, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 9, 2018 If one person cancels the other has to pay the single supplement which is 100% of the cruise fare so it makes no difference. You could change the NAME of the person sailing without any penalty (or change the cabin/category) Sent from my LG-H831 using Forums mobile app
Hop77 Posted January 10, 2018 Author #10 Share Posted January 10, 2018 Hmm... is there any change fee for refundable booking? Then could we book under refundable option to secure the cabin. Then later when price drops etc, we can cancel the refundable booking and then rebooked it under non-refundable?

You can change to non-refundable anytime before final payment date.
