Future cruise credit

I had FCC due to a canceled cruise. The FCC clearly said it was only good for one year from the canceled date and only good for the named passenger, even though I paid for the cruise.

I am thinking with proper documentation they might make an exception for a death. But then again who decides which surviving family member gets to take the FCC. I can see all sorts of issues with that.
