NYcruzzer Posted January 13, 2018 #26 Share Posted January 13, 2018 Sounds good. I will just apply whatever we have onto my Escape cruise to Bermuda. I'll call monday. Did you have cruise nexts on the Gem cruise? I am pretty sure I have 2 cruise nexts on the Escape. We did have this upcoming cruise held with a Cruise Next. They applied that as a deposit.. Mustangdrew Posted January 13, 2018 #27 Share Posted January 13, 2018 Let me clarify. It's 25% credit off the price we paid for this cruise. I assume that doesn't include port or taxes . Sent from my iPhone using Forums So if you got a deal to begin with you get even a better one ? I get 10 percent off as a casino total Rewards player so that would be a total of 35 percent off my next one then. But I’m assuming it would have to be the same accommodations then. Sent from my iPhone using Forums The credit is deducted from your base fare. If you change categories then I assume they will deduct the 25% credit off that new fare. Not 100% sure how this all works with CAS..
Mustangdrew Posted January 13, 2018 #29 Share Posted January 13, 2018 All the more reason to get a specific travel insurance company that has policies written about cruises. I got one that covers changes in itineraries before departure and after. Paying me some extra money after my 2/13 cruise is over. Not a bad deal especially for other things. UrbanTraveler Posted January 13, 2018 #30 Share Posted January 13, 2018 Yes, I can answer this. We have talked to several officers. After the winter storm that has been posted about here extensively, the outdoor decks (15/16) may have sustained some damage. For example, the LED big TV wall at Spice H2O is not working properly. When the ship docked in NYC, it was covered in ice and the crew had to act very quickly to turn it over. The immediate priority was assessing damage that would affect cruise safety and getting guests from the last cruise off. There simply was not time for an engineer to board and confirm the slides and course would be safe. The officer told me that it could be examined in port while we are in the Caribbean but not to bet on it. They will definitely have time for examination when the ship gets back to NYC. Thank you Jules528! Much appreciated. Enjoy the rest of your cruise! Please keep us updated.

Casino Comp Chick Posted January 13, 2018 #32 Share Posted January 13, 2018 So if you got a deal to begin with you get even a better one ? I get 10 percent off as a casino total Rewards player so that would be a total of 35 percent off my next one then. But I’m assuming it would have to be the same accommodations then. Sent from my iPhone using Forums it works the same way if you were on a full comp, it is 25% of fare paid. If you had a full comp and paid $140 without upgrading your 25% is $35.00. If you upgraded then its 25% of the admin plus upgrade fee. Now as far as your 10% off, i believe the wording on the email that was sent said it cannot be combined with another offer so you may not be able to apply the 10% also. Here are the 2 phone numbers for CAS. The first one is open on weekends which you should be able to use since its the land based casino line & its not based on ship play. For certificate award reservations, contact a Guest Service Representative 9:00AM to 9:00PM ES Monday to Friday & 10:30AM to 7:30PM EST Saturday and Sunday 1-888-785-8259 or casino information and reservations, contact a Casinos At Sea Cruise Specialists 9:00AM to 5:30PM EST Monday to Friday 1 877-PLAY NCL (1-877-752-9625) or email us at casinoinquiries@ncl.com

UrbanTraveler Posted January 14, 2018 #36 Share Posted January 14, 2018 Not a lot of kids on a 14 day cruise in January anyway. Their free-fall slides and obstacle course (except for the kiddie version) isn't exactly designed for small kids. Personally, I look forward to doing both (having been on the BA before a couple of times.) I hope they can get both up and running safely by the next cruise. I'll be on the one after that, with my wife and (small/young) daughter.
mrsskyhook Posted January 14, 2018 #37 Share Posted January 14, 2018 I think it is important to note that the Captain updated us every 30 minutes during the medical evacuation (which was a period of 4 hours give or take a bit). Also, a note for those not on this sailing who might now know... for a lot of us, this itinerary was already heavy on sea days compared to what we originally booked. (due to the hurricane damage on several island, the itinerary was changed the day after final payment). So we started with 8 ports, went to 5, and then lost another one. Combine that with the outdoor sports areas being closed, slides, etc, and for many this cruise is disappointing. Just mentioning all that as it might have been factored into the making of the credit decision.

NLH Arizona Posted January 14, 2018 #41 Share Posted January 14, 2018 No. I am onboard. How would they know anyway? The poster who said she knew someone who was onboard, is kind of strange and just try to cause more issues guessing to help her get a full refund and cause issues. She was one that posted on FB that the Captain could have taken them into the storm because he knew the Captain went down with the ship and he probably had gambling debts or problems back home. gambit57 Posted January 15, 2018 #43 Share Posted January 15, 2018 Wow, I'd say 25% off next cruise offer in the cabin is pretty generous and quite proactive on the part of NCL. I've only been on one cruise that missed a port and all I got were port charges refunded. Those amounts are tiny too. It's basically nothing. Rare uneamie Posted January 16, 2018 #44 Share Posted January 16, 2018 Leaving on the next cruise out on the 19th. I do hope they are working on those water slides. It's the main attraction for my younger brother. He will be so disappointed. That tiny pool is no substitute that's for sure.

If you ask my daughter what she's looking forward to, the first, second and third thing she lists are the water slides! I'm optimistic for our chances though. The fact the crew has been seen working on them during this cruise at least means they're trying to get them back in safe & working order.

I'll be on the one after that, with my wife and (small/young) daughter. I agree. The last time we were on the Breakaway my youngest was 8 and didn’t meet the weight requirement for all the slides. He is looking forward to doing them this time. We go in late February so I hope they are fixed by then! It won’t break our cruise if they are not, but it would be nice. I heard a rumor that they are not going to be fixed until dry dock in April, but there are so many conflicting stories. Two people from our trip called NCL to inquire about the slides when people started saying they were closed, and both people were told that there no problem with the slides! I was thinking the same thing since my experience on missed ports has been the same as yours. This is probably an isolated compensation stategy for NCL because this particular cruise was originally a 14 day with 8 ports. Then hurricane season happened and 8 ports went to 5 ports and ultimately due to unforeseen circumstances it ended up as only 4 ports. I doubt NCL would make this type of offer on a cruise that just missed one port.
