Rare rjm11 Posted January 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2018 here are the meeting instructions from Shore Excursioneer regarding our day pass to Royalton Sands. Does anyone know if this involves leaving the secure port area? Where is this large white tent? In or out? Falmouth Cruise Terminal For this excursion you will meet your guide at your Falmouth Cruise Terminal. After leaving the ship and entering the terminal, walk on your right all the way to the end of the terminal building and towards the car/bus park. At the end of the building, you will see the port dispatchers, tell the dispatchers you are looking for Casita with CARIBBEAN WORLD TOURS and they will escort you to the Independent Travelers large white tent. theampres Posted January 22, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 22, 2018 I'd like to know same as post above - and how far from cruise port, Falmouth are the 2 Royalton resorts? I've seen 2-3 miles on one site, but others seem to indicate farther --?? when is your cruise, rjm11? we'll be on JADE; Falmouth, 19 Feb. -- have same excursion booked as you, but likely will cancel, then decide upon arrival if we want to try & get there on our own via taxi or maybe find same group/white tent, etc. and see if space available -- all yet tbd... Rare rjm11 Posted January 22, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted January 22, 2018 I'm on the Jade March 23 cruise. Please report back on what you decide. The resorts look fairly close (and the opposite direction from the area of Montego Bay where the current warnings are).... they are citing a 15 minute transfer time, so it can't be that far. But I don't think I want to go outside the cruise port, and those meeting instructions are a little vague at the end....
theampres Posted January 22, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2018 rjm11 : we're on same page w/this; I'll report back end of Feb. (we'll be home late on 27 Feb) on how things are/what we decide to do, etc. pls. feel free to send me email reminder after 27th in case I forget to look up this thread: lap3333 at hotmail wish you (& us:-) un bon voyage! missing Jamaica completely or staying inside cruise port area, won't make or break the cruise! Rare rjm11 Posted January 23, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted January 23, 2018 yes- it's so hard to know. We've never been to Jamaica before, and the resort looks great- something we were excited about- but of course not worth it if it doesn't seem safe. We will have two kids with us too (12 and 10, so not little but still...) I'm also considering switching to an NCL sponsored excursion because it seems safer- but all of those involve at least an hour's bus trip each way so I'm not sure if that's actually better! These were basically the same instructions we got when we went on our tour from Falmouth and we were completely safe. We didn't use that same company but we did follow these same instructions. The dispatchers at the end of the buildings were very helpful and point you to the right location. There are several companies and tour guides in the same area picking up their guests. It's just a little chaotic but definitely not alarming and we didn't fell unsafe or lost at all. We were still within the secure port area when we met our guide and loaded into the van. Hope that helps some and that you have a great trip!

hawk1972 Posted January 29, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 29, 2018 As stated above, the meeting area for independent tour operators at Falmouth is within the "secure" port area. You just stay to the right of the port area and you end up in a parking area with a white tent where they meet.

I think I'm going to stick with this plan.... the resort is close by, and it looks great- I'll report back afterwards if anyone is interested. Sailing at the end of March.
