Manhattan Cruise Terminal taxis

Hi

We will be in NYC one day on our cruise and will be at Manhattan cruise Terminal. We have stopped here enrolee on cruises previously and have had difficulties locating taxis on the street to flag down and have never seen a line of taxis (maybe because not a disembarkation stop)

Can anyone advise if there is a taxi rank nearby or whether any of the firms recommended on here Dial & and Carmellimo for example, can be booked ahead of time. We want to get to One World observatory and are no longer young enough for los of walking. Also we are Brits so can't phone or use an Uber account .

Thanks

If no luck on the West Side Highway outside the terminal, walk up a block to 11th Ave and you should definitely be able to find a cab there. D

ial 7 & Carmel are usable, but not being able to call might hinder your ability to use them as well.

Thanks for the suggestions.

We have never disembarked here, as on this occasion it is a one day port stop on a cruise up the East Coast. I thought maybe that was why we had never seen any taxis. Being a worrier it's good to know we can pre book.

Looking on Google I also saw there is a water taxi station not far away so that may be a fun thing to do.

We also just disembarked in Manhattan and needed a taxi to get to Penn Station. As, has been said, there is a taxi line right across the street from the terminal. be aware that you have to get your luggage there as there are no porters to do that. Also, if there is a line at the taxi rank, there will also be people asking you if you need a taxi to anywhere. Most of them are gypsy drivers and NOT legitimate NY taxi drivers. Be aware, they can and will charge you a bundle to get you some where and if you don't pay, they will hold your luggage. If you need a taxi, only take one from the rank and there are dispatchers there to get you one.

Cheers

Len
