Katesowner Posted February 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2018 We have lots of ocean cruise experience but have never done a river cruise. We are considering the 2-week China one that Viking offers. Is there any difference (aside from room size) in what a veranda guest or a suite guest) would get on the cruise? Has anyone used Viking’s travel insurance? Or is buying our own insurance, as we do when we travel on big ships, a better purchase? Any suggestions are welcome. No other difference at all which makes it a fairly poor investment given that you will be on the ship for only a part of the trip. Has anyone used Viking’s travel insurance? Or is buying our own insurance, as we do when we travel on big ships, a better purchase? It is usually best advice to buy your insurance from somewhere else, regardless of which cruise line we are talking about. If you search on this forum there are a couple of huge 'Viking China' threads which will answer pretty much every question you could possibly have so well worth a read. acruisefan Posted February 25, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 25, 2018 We went on a Uniworld China tour last October. Only 3 days on the Yangtze but that was enough. I think Viking may do 5 days which would have been too much for me. The rest of our tour was an escorted land tour, including Tibet. We were very happy with the Uniworld experience. The river ships in China are all leased, not part of the Uniworld or Viking fleet. I always purchase trip insurance separate from the company that I am traveling with - either through your travel advisor or check out insuremytrip.
