New Royal Caribbean Deluex Drinking Package Policy

Recommended Posts

All Royal Caribbean cruises sailing after December 2017 have the updated policy to the Deluex drinking package(booze package). That all members in a state room 21 years of age and up must purchase the Deluex package if any other member of the state room wants to purchase the package. Has anyone sailed with the new policy applied. Was it the case or did you find a way around this? I'll be sailing in April on Oasis with 3 other people who don't want the package. Majority wins. Any information or experience with this would be of much help and appreciated.

If you call to order, you may be able to get by with 3 Refreshment packages for the non-alcohol drinkers.

No one is forcing anyone to buy the package. You can pay per drink. RCI is just coming in line with their other major market competitors.

If 3/4 of the people in the room don't want the package, then don't buy the package. Pretty simple, really.

The OP is simply asking a question on if the new policy is actually be followed as written... Neither of you answered his question, don't know why you even posted, other than to be snarky I guess.

yes, there are ways "around it".

Should someone in your cabin fall into one of these categories they can be excluded...call RCI to order the package

  • Pregnancy
  • Recovering Alcoholic
  • Medical Reason
  • Religious Reason
  • Does Not Consume Alcohol Due to Personal Preference

Perhaps because this question has been answered over, and over, and over again.

We are sailing March 3 on the Freedom. Hubby got enough casino points on our last cruise to qualify for free drinks in the casino. I did not and wanted the package so I called to buy one just for me. When they asked what I needed I said I wanted to order one for me and hubby did not need one as he was already getting drinks in the casino. I did not have any issue at all. I called C&A to add it. This was about a month ago.

However they contributed to the topic at hand while you chose to go off topic and just post to accuse others to be snarky, when they post on topic.

You might want to apply for a mod on the boards to get some power about the decision if a post is within the rules or not. In the meantime it´s not your job to determine what can and should be posted. If you dislike a post click the red triangle and let the mods do their job.

Recently on Allure and we purchased onboard to take advantage of our D+ 30% discount. Two of us in a cabin, we had the choice to purchase 1 or 2 packages. Surprised actually. In the end we opted to purchase 2. individual drink prices on Oasis class ships have increased significantly and in fact they differ in price in several bars, +/- $1- $2 range

Cannot guarantee it would be the same in April but might be worth waiting...

Good luck.

Not all of us scroll through these forums every day, perhaps, if I was tired of a question, over and over, I wouldn't be clicking into this thread...

There are new posters all the time who have not seen previous threads so a little patience doesn't hurt as we all were new here once.

And honestly, it seems like a lot of people don’t actually realize that they can drink without buying a package!

I agree.

A lot of people do drink more to get their moneys worth.

If you are on tours or take poorly on board the drinks packages are not worth it.

Currently in the UK cruises of 6 nights or more have a free drinks package but the cruise price has been increased appropriately to cover this so we are paying for it even when we don't want it.

This. seems all civility has come to an end behind keyboards. If it has been covered before, link to the thread. being snarky is not a good way to keep the board active and increase participation.

Since we will have new members arriving on CC & to cruising, they will not be aware of all the questions and how many times one has been asked, They are also learning their way around this site. We are here to help others so try & do my part. Our first cruise was in 2002 and I am still learning off CC things I never knew.

The OPs post was inquiring whether or not RC has been strictly following their new set of rules. Now you tell me how they contributed to the topic other than blowing off his question? And correct, I do not know the answer to the OPs question, but I do like to point out the ridiculousness of some people that obviously scan these forums every hour and see this question pop up every two minutes. Don't click the thread, if you don't want to read it is simply my answer to the first two posters..

I agree grapau, that's what I am saying to the first two responses in this thread.

That is true but it also penalizes someone who wants to try to save money and is sharing a cabin with someone that does not consume alcohol.

Well said!!!

I’m so amazed at how rude people can be behind a keyboard. Folks need to keep in mind, at one time they were new to cruising and CC forums. It doesn’t hurt to be polite.
