Corsica - Citadel

If you mean the Citadel in Ajaccio, then I believe it is closed to the public as it belongs to the French Army. You can walk around it however and there is a nice viewpoint. There are several Citadels in Corsica.

If you want an interesting visit, then Napoleon's former home is worth seeing.

As states the citadel is a military area and closed to the public. Napoleons birth place has lots to see check arrival day as closed on Mondays. The musee Fesch has the art collection of Napleons uncle Cardinal Fesch.

Right where you dock is the main square if the market is on you'll see some great local produce we bought absolutely huge peaches there so sweet and juicy. There is a little train that does a circuit tour from the square and goes up to Place dAusterlitz lots of steps to the top but good for a view. A great place for gelato ice cream is a little shop on the main shopping street opposite Etam clothes shop. We tried ice cream at every stop on our med cruise but this beat everywhere.

Hi....

The Gelato was from Capogiro. If you push the boat out ask for a "flower" pure genius!

On both of our visits to Ajaccio we docked but depending on how many in more ships are in you may tender. We were on Crown Princess next to us was a Silver Seas ship and MSC had to tender.

If you want to visit a beach follow the road past the citadel and it will lead to a long beach area very popular. A couple of donkeys live in the dry moat at the citadel.
