Going to San Juan for the first time

We'll be stopping in San Juan next month on our Harmony cruise. This is our first time in San Juan but we only have about 6 hours there.

We're interested in sightseeing Old and New San Juan. Is there a local tour company we could book with or should we go with the cruise ship's tour?

I'd rather give the money to a local company, especially after the hurricane.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

You could spend time touring the 2 Forts and wandering through Old San Juan (you can take a cab or the trolley to the Forts). We did that last year when we first went to San Juan. We were there in January this year again and booked a guided walking/driving tour of Old & New San Juan with Carlos from Charlie's Custom Tour. We did a 3 hour tour ($75/hour) which was about half walking and half driving. Carlos was wonderful - very informative and fun. He provided complimentary drinks and snacks. He also takes pictures throughout the tour and emails them to you afterwards. Carlos will customize your tour to include whatever you like.
