Preferred my Escape Away much more than my Break Away!

Yes the Escape is my favorite by far and I am sad to see her leave for NYC.

I will never do a NYC cruise those are usually the worse so now Escape will have complaints you watch.

 

Escape moving caused me to book Getaway for the third time this year I am ok with it I have been on all the big ships except the 2 new ones cant wait to go on them.

Also, I am booked on the BA in October (first time) and I keep reading that smoke is a problem on this ship. Is that just in the casino or is it like running the gauntlet just to make it through that area? Is there any non smoking areas in the casino? I was on the Epic and don’t remember it being especially smoky?

Why are the NYC cruises the worst please?

 

I don’t think it is the “worst,” however, it is one of the more inconvenient and expensive ports to embark and disembark whether you fly, drive, or train. I think it depends on how far you live from the port. Please note, I haven’t been on a cruise out of Boston.

 

The passenger profile? ... eh ... there is something to hate about everyone regardless of the port. UBP helps smooth many rough edges.

In regards to the smoke in the casino- there is a non-smoking area in the casino but it is pretty much open into the smoking area, not really definitively divided. We felt yes there was smoke, but even in the evening when it is most busy it was not as smoky as the BA. Other than that, there are designated areas out on deck to smoke- and we are not smokers, and did not go around those areas, so we did not find smoke noticeable except in the casino.

It’s probably the nearest port for us - for this itenary anyway - we are flying in from London ;)

Cheers! We live in Pennsylvania so it is a 3.5 train ride and a taxi from Penn Sta to port. Alternatively, an 80 minute drive to Baltimore and a 2.5-3.0 hour flight to Miami. Either way has its stress and inconvenience.

The Breakaway has a smoking problem. You will smell cigarettes on your balcony and in the atrium area. It's so bad that it permeates multiple decks.

I believe both are evidence of risk-taking. So, you are asking why a risk taker is engaging in risk-taking behavior.

 

I smoke because I think it makes me look cool. I gamble because I smoke.
