Suebee Posted December 26, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 26, 2005 I even went to the National Cemetaries website to see if any mention of peacocks is listed. No Idea. If you decide that its Punchbowl that youre looking for (MANY people go there like they would Arilington National Cemetary), we'd be happy to give information on that. If it's peacocks you want, the zoo has lots of free range peacocks.... :)
Joy_K Posted December 26, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 26, 2005 Could it have been Byodo-In Temple? I remember a pond out front with black swans and possible peacocks. It is off of Hwy 83 on east coast. Did a search and came up with this:http://www2.hawaii.edu/~turner/oahu/byodo.htm
jame_g Posted December 26, 2005 #5 Share Posted December 26, 2005 Maybe you're thinking of the Valley of the Temples in Kahaluu? Here's a link with more info: http://www.frommers.com/destinations/oahu/A22919.html Looks like Joy posted basically the same thing while I was slowly typing my response! Thanks Paul You are in fact referring to the Valley of the Temples, and more specifically the Byodo-in Temple and its gardens located on the grounds of the cemetery. It's just off Kahekili Highway in Kaneohe and is well worth a visit. This link will give you take you a photo gallery that will give you a general sense of what's there to see: http://www.rightstarhawaii.com/RightStar/PhotoGallery.htm
