Back to Back Sydney Departures - What is the Turn Around Day Like

Recommended Posts

We are thinking about doing Back to Back cruises out of Sydney but we can't get the same cabin. So I have a couple of questions.

Do we have to get off the ship, or can we use the morning to move from cabin to cabin.

If we do by some chance get the same cabin at a later date, what do you do during the turn around time if you don't have to change cabins.

We did back to back once in FLL in the same cabin and we had to report to the Passport Lounge at around 10:00 am, wait till they were ready, then walk off the ship with our passports, show them to immigration and get right back on.

Just wondering if it is any different for Celebrity in Sydney. We are US citizens if that makes any difference.

We have done two B2Bs through Sydney and on both occasions we had to disembark and then get back on later. It wasn't immediate - we were not permitted to board until the 'official' embarkation time. It was fairly smooth though. We also moved cabins on one of these. We had to pack up everything apart from items hanging in the wardrobe. It was all moved for us to the new cabin which certainly made the process easier.

We have done 3 B2B turnaround days in Sydney. We will enjoy a 4th turnaround day in Sydney this coming April. We are also US citizens.

The B2B procedure in Sydney isn't any different than any other B2B turnaround day. Depending on how many B2B passengers there may or may not be a B2B meeting prior to turnaround day. But you will be issued a transit pass so can bypass the lines in the OPT. Twice we have stayed in the same stateroom for both legs, and once moved. Just as on other turnaround days our butlers coordinated the move (we had to deal with the contents of the safe, but the butler for the suite on the second leg called the butler on the first leg once the prior stateroom passenger had left so we moved our safe contents prior to leaving the ship).

Sydney is a great city and very convenient for a B2B. We often walk over to the wonderful botanic gardens, but the Rocks area is adjacent to the OPT. The Museum of Modern Art is even closer, and for those who appreciate an edgy art museum it is simply wonderful.
