We are staying at the residence Inn in downtown they say it's a 15 minute walk to the cruise port is this walkable for a family of 5 (2 16-year-old and 12-year-old) and we're all in good shape with a check-in window from 11 to 1130?

Remember that you will be schlepping your luggage with you. Only you can determine if your kid's will go along with it.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in the middle of the French Quarter and I walked to the dock early in the morning (still dark out) to watch the ship come in. It took probably a half hour to get there but I didn't have luggage to drag along. I never gave it a thought until after I got back to the hotel how stupid it was to walk alone in the dark in a strange town.
