Great Bay- is it really that bad for swimming

Just wondering how bad the water is at this beach. Looks beautiful and is very convenient. I have been to other beaches on the island over the years, but thought we’d just hang close to the port this time.

It looks very industrial between the road close by and the ships out in the bay. Almost like a harbor. Only one man’s opinion however.

That's just the thing - I think it looks great ... not industrial at all. But just wondering if they do regular water testing

As you can see from the above picture, people swim there all the time.:)

Cruisers swim there. In January I asked a housekeeper who lives near philipsburg and who’s closest beach is Great Bay, “Do you swim in Great Bay?” She actually crossed her arms and shivered and said “no I wouldn’t swim in that water” or something to that affect.

To the OP : no there is not regular testing but there should be

We were at Great Bay two weeks ago off the Eclipse, and the beach was full and many people were enjoying the water. The water appeared clear and warm as I only went in waist deep.
