blitheone Posted March 25, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 25, 2018 My Beloved and I are Platinum, but this is our first time sailing with the whole family. I have a feeling we'll be keeping the g'kidlets, ages 11, 8, 6, 5, 4 and 2 so that our kids can romp and frolic from time to time in the evening. The three oldest can play regular board games and chess and I do believe they should be hunky dorey. But are there games available for the younger kidlets or should we bring something along for them? I'm a Meemaw; of course I have games! :D
forgotmyCCname Posted March 25, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 25, 2018 Bring games for all of them. We have tried to use games in the library / lounge areas and they are almost always incomplete. Ages ago the Haven had a bunch of games for guests to sign out , don’t know if you are Haven or not. Have fun ! I would love to be with a big family like yours on a cruise! Yeppers, we have an Owners Suite (thanks to us gambling wayyyy too much :D) so I'll check with our butler. However, I have a small (okay, medium/large) suitcase with goofy stuff packed just in case. I just don't want them to spend any appreciable time in the Kiddie Casino (aka Arcade) because it just doesn't pay off.
Shynook11 Posted March 26, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 26, 2018 We were on the Pearl to the Panama Canal and they had things like Connect Four and Scrabble. Can't vouch for missing pieces....I am sure there were some. Cards were always taken.
picodrive Posted March 26, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 26, 2018 I was just on the Pearl recently and I brought my own. I agree that often pieces are missing in games on board. You can get several games for $5 each at Walmart (scrabble a bit more) and they fit nicely in a small duffle bag. I also brought a puzzle which we worked on all week and finished on the last day. You then can donate them to the ship or carry them back home. It is a wonderful way to have quality family time.
Rare Peachypooh Posted March 26, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 26, 2018 I have found that the games (if available) on any cruiseship (not just NCL) usually have missing pieces. So I pack a few small items like slapjack cards and also make do with what we have in a creative way. We play things like treasure hunt which is basically hiding quarters in our cabin for the grandkids to find. We also have tea parties with decaf tea bags and cookies/brownies from the buffet. Love Blue Posted March 26, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 26, 2018 On a family cruise in Sept 2016 we brought along a set of dominoes and a Sequence game that we donated to the library rather than pack for the trip home. No idea whether they are still there after the refurb.
blitheone Posted March 26, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted March 26, 2018 Thanks for all your responses! I truely wish y'all were coming along to help me babysit :D So, it appears that, if you're sailing on the Pearl after April, there'll be a few more games...with pieces missing...
