Website Booking Prices Changing whilie I am watching

Recommended Posts

I don't understand how it can start out at $666 + taxes/fees for mid balcony deck 6 and 7.

Then it changed to $741 + taxes/fees same cabin same location while I was watching

Called

On phone with rep and I start getting $849 + taxes/fees for forward deck 10 ??

Rep couldn't help and had no interest from what I can tell because of his foreign accent.

Tried the website again and it was back to $741 + taxes/fees

My math 741 + 741 + 89 + 89 equals 1660

Their math equals 1859.92

The invoice has my cabin choice at over 2000 and then they list the discounts (sarc) and add the taxes/fees at the bottom.

Am I missing something??

You are not missing anything. They have creative math for sure!!

I used to try and figure out how they came to the price they did versus the beginning price, but now I just look at the final total and move on....LOL!!!

I have 5 RCL cruises booked, and I check prices daily to see if there are price drops so I can grab the new fare. I noticed that between yesterday and this morning that prices have been adjusted up on all 5 of my cruises, so they must have made some adjustments last night. You could be looking on line at one price then an hour later there's a price change.

That's in preparation for their coming "Easter Sale".

I noticed the same thing. Online pricing was showing up as $25 cheaper then what I paid. I called and they tell me my price was better! I am looking at the bottom line price final cost. Creative math indeed! Waiting now for the "Easter Sale" to see if the drink packages are better priced. I hope so.

Called back this morning and spoke to 4 different reps.

First rep was annoyed and stooped to calling me "Honey" in a derogatory way. He transferred me to:

Second rep who couldn't answer my questions and he transferred me to:

Third rep who couldn't help me because she only worked with travel agents so I was tranferred to:

Fourth rep who told me she was a resolution specialist and she couldn't help me because I didn't have a booking number. She did try to answer some of my questions so in a somewhat helpful/unhelpful way.

I've been trying to book...... sheesh....

The explanations I received:

The prices change because there is nothing left in the category at the given price. No, it doesn't notify you of the bump up in category or price. It just does it for my personal shopping convenience. BUT, get this, both rep 1 and rep 4 say there is 1 cabin left at the advertised price and they can book it for me on deck 10 but I cannot see it on the website as available.

I feel like Red Robinhood in the wood with the Wolf.

In My Humble Opinion (IMHO), as a consumer with money burning a hole in my pocket and my DH wanting to do a back to back out of Galveston, it seems like Bait & Switch to me. An unaware consumer may just accept what the website is showing them as to price/availablity when in fact they need to call to get the advertised price.

One more thought:

Rep 1 said he gets calls all the time from people confused why they are not getting the advertised price. He told me, he actually said this so no joke, I get them the cabin at that price and they go away happy. Just saying..........
