Renting a pocket WiFi in Japan

Are you arriving into Japan by air or by sea (and, leaving also ...)

What is your planned usage, on land while sightseeing - and/or in combo with a cruise ... the MiFi router will be of limited use (if any) while at sea since that will be accessing satellite data instead, and, much more expensive.

Here's a few recent threads/discussions & post-visit update to get you started on the research, grab a cup of coffee or tea to start browsing

Arriving by air (so I can pick it up at the airport) but leaving by sea (I need a drop off location close to my hotel).

Depending on your choice of airline, check to see if they have any special promotion and/or discounts, etc. (i.e. when we flew Korean Air into ICN, discount given on our advanced reservation upon presentation of our BP at the kiosk/counter + earned FF mileage) for using their alliance/preferred cellular service providers.

Reserved it for airport pickup or they can deliver to the hotel & pickup upon checking in. They typically provide a free option to drop off the package in a postage paid mailer, seal it & drop off at a mailbox/post office nearby, or the hotel staff can do that.
