daka Posted April 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2018 This will be our second "Sky" cruise to Cuba, May 21 - 25,...the first time we took the "Bus" tour...total waste of time...it spent way too much time at the Cemetery, and the Fort, and whizzed by the other sites we wanted to see. So, this time we are thinking to engage a driver for a few hours and have a "private" tour. If you have any info or tips we'd like your input, did you arrange this beforehand, or just walk over and find a "guy" Thnaks
Tina.w12 Posted April 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2018 Check out Havana Journey’s online, we used them a few years ago and they were great. The price then was about $100 for Car, driver and guide for the day Sent from my iPhone using Forums
pbenjamin Posted April 8, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2018 You can book online as above or with oldcartours.com which we did, or you can deal with one of several folks waiting across the street from the terminal .
daka Posted April 8, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted April 8, 2018 If arranging "on location" do you need CUC or will they take USD
Tina.w12 Posted April 8, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 8, 2018 No USD allowed only CUC, exchange place in cruise terminal just past immigration Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Indeed, many Cubans will take US dollars if offered, it's just not the thing to do. Stores and restaurants that are government operated probably won't accept them, and people would prefer not to have to wait in line at the CADECA to exchange dollars and have to pay the exchange rate.
