Cuba Cars, how to book

This will be our second "Sky" cruise to Cuba, May 21 - 25,...the first time we took the "Bus" tour...total waste of time...it spent way too much time at the Cemetery, and the Fort, and whizzed by the other sites we wanted to see.

So, this time we are thinking to engage a driver for a few hours and have a "private" tour.

If you have any info or tips we'd like your input, did you arrange this beforehand, or just walk over and find a "guy"

It's not a matter of "allowed" or if it is there is no enforcement. Indeed, many Cubans will take US dollars if offered, it's just not the thing to do. Stores and restaurants that are government operated probably won't accept them, and people would prefer not to have to wait in line at the CADECA to exchange dollars and have to pay the exchange rate.
