Should we upgrade?

First time cruisers here. We have an upcoming cruise in May on the Conquest. We're currently in the first "aft" balcony room on Deck 6 (Upper), port side...got an offer to upgrade to another balcony room on Deck 10 (Panorama) or Deck 9 (Lido) for just $40. Those rooms would be forward. Starboard on Lido and either starboard or port side on Panorama. Should we upgrade? I'm worried about the motion being forward...also worried about the noise that may come with being on decks with some action. We're traveling with another couple who is also on Deck 6 with us, so not sure if moving away would cause an issue with us meeting up? Thanks in advance!

If you know the cabin numbers of those being offered, take a look at the Conquest Deck Plans to see exactly where each one is located. I'm guessing you and the other couple booked your cabins as close to each other as possible to make it easier to meet up for the day's activities or dinner. If you take one of the other cabins being offered, how far away would you be from your friends? The Conquest is not the largest ship in the fleet, but it's still a pretty good little hike from the front of the ship to the Aft (and vice-versa).

Personally I would not change, let me explain. First, although I have never had an AFT balcony (first time this Aug.) I have heard they are bigger. It also would depend on the itinerary for example, we did AFT balcony for our Alaskan Cruise in Aug., we thought it would be cool to see a panoramic view of the inside passage way (we shall see). Also if your MDR is AFT then that could be a bonus. However, in the end it up to you and if it is worth another $40.

The OP said their cabin is an aft balcony port side. I don’t think they have a true aft balcony. Just a balcony on the back end of the ship, port side.

OP here. You're right. I don't think it's classified as an AFT balcony, so sorry for the confusion. We're just the first cabin classified in the "aft" part of the ship...make sense?

OP, yes makes sense. Look at the deck plan and specifically at the Promenade deck to see what is below your current cabin. These venues may cause noise issues at night. The Lido deck cabins have heavy doors which close off the hallways from the Lido area and then of course you have your cabin door as a buffer. You’d have other cabins above you and below you. As a light sleeper I would take the Lido deck upgrade. YMMV.

We’ve done deck 6 on the Conquest and hated it because of the noise. Deck 6 is right above deck 5 where all of the shops, casino, bars, etc are. Deck 9 and 10 are really good upgrades. I’ve done both decks on conquest class ships and loved them. They’re quiet decks and super close to the lido buffet and pools. Dont wait too long because they will give the upgrade to someone else pretty quick.
