No Family entertainment on the Bliss?

There will be a lot of family entertainment, just not the main theater show. Cirque is not done because of declining popularity. It has been replaced with live country music in Q's.

Such as? We've been on the Epic, Breakaway, and Getaway...other than Blue Man and Legally Blond, Cirque and the magic show on the Getaway (which was awful), I can't remember any other family entertainment. So far what's on the site for Bliss isn't even anything I would want to see...let alone my daughter.

No one cruise line is going to please everyone, so they have to try to play to their demographic. While lots of families sail on NCL, it's not the sole driving force to their business. Seeing the OP's avatar and their cruising history, I'm guessing they are comparing to Disney where ALL of the shows are family friendly (to a fault IMHO). Even the so called "adult" shows have nothing remotely inappropriate in them.

Honestly, one of the things we enjoyed about NCL when we tried it after several Disney cruises, was that the entrainment wasn't primarily geared towards children. On a ship the size of the Bliss, I'm sure there will be plenty of shows that children would enjoy - variety acts and such. While not all kids may appreciate the musicals, my son sure would have at that age. He has always loved that stuff, and as a twenty year old thinks pretty much any music that was not produced prior to the the 70's is total crap. :')

Actually our favorite ships are the Royal Oasis class. Lots of fun entertainment for the family. I only enjoy a handful of Disney shows and actually we don't go to most of them since we've seen them already.

And by the way my daughter loves musicals. She's seen many shows on Broadway and will no doubt enjoy Jersey Boys. So my complaint was not about that show. It was the fact that other than game shows and Karaoke (none of which could qualify as entertainment) there isn't much for families at night on NCL (at least on the 3 cruises we've been on with them).

Do you realize that ncl has ropes course rock wall trampoline water slides? My 20 somethings and 17 yo were thrilled and that's primarily the reason we cruised on the getaway this past Easter. Not to mention the great western Carib ports. Any teen that thinks Roatan is boring lol needs to be spoken to. Snorkeling at tabyana beach and what I saw saw at the reef drop off is right up there with my 1st sighting of the Giza pyramids. That reef could easily be a wonder of the world to me and I've been to many many places in this world Tahiti to Moscow. Tangier to Istanbul and a few places in between

Think you misread...the poster said "My son is a teenager, however, if he was a younger child I don't think I would select NCL"...

She agreed with you about NCL for teenagers...

Just a thought, and I could be off base, but the Bliss is designed for Alaska. Alaska is usually not a kid destination. Of course there are kids on the ship, but we have sailed to Alaska twice and the number of kids on the ship was very small. We were not on Disney. ( I mean 13 and under kids). It is nice they have the other things like go-karts on the Bliss, but I would think the majority of passengers with families would be kids in the teens and the entertainment reflects that? Just an idea....I have no idea. We have an 11 yr old and a 14 year old and always take them to the shows if they want to go and they usually do....otherwise they are free to go off on their own.

It's doing 1/2 the year in Alaska and 1/2 in the Caribbean so that's not likely the case. Go-Karts, Laser Tag, and water slides are definitely for kids!

Speak for yourselves! Pam and I will be signing up for the go karts and the laser tag as soon as we get onboard! :p

I guess I am a bit confused. If this means so much to you, why did you book the ship? I can relate to activities for you kids as we have been cruising with our grandkids for years. they love the experience including the activities and yes, NCL shows. If there are 2 or so for them, they are fine. They also enjoy hanging out with newly made friends at night. I can, as I said yesterday, gripe about not enough entertainment for 60 plus aged people, but I also realize the majority of cruisers are with in a certain age group so of course the nightly entertainment will be geared to them. I do know a lot of families like the idea that the kids can go one direction and the adults the other for a few hours a day including at night.

That's why I am so happy that there so many choices out there for cruisers to choose from. You couldn't pay me to sit through Cats again, ice shows and aqua shows are not my cup of tea either. I would never cruise Disney since they do not have a casino. We look for an adult fun vacation, and NCL fits the bill perfectly. You are right, I think all families with young kids should look elsewhere.....please! Obviously I am just kidding. On my last cruise on the Breakaway, I have to imagine there were lots of kids being spring break, but I didn't see them too much, must have been having too much fun at the Kids club or entourage. But I also spent the majority of my time in adult areas. The ones I saw where well behaved. There were always family activities going on, family scavenger hunt, the escape room, magician and family oriented comedy. The comedy shows did not turn into adult shows until the late showing.

Oh totally agree, we will as well. What I meant was that these things would not be on a ship/line that wasn't geared towards families/kids such as...HAL. Do be prepared to pay for them...

I booked the ship because it's an extended family vacation and I was out-voted. I'm less and less happy with the choice as it gets closer to our departure date but will focus on the destination. We like to vacation as a family (husband, daughter, and me) and spend our time together so we just don't do kids in one direction and adults in another.

Most of us traveling with family want time together, but there are times when it is fun to go our separate ways and kids can enjoy being with those their age. We always use our time together or did til our grand kids had kids of their own, for meals and excursions. Now the grand kids take their kids and do pretty much the same thing.
