Greenhopster Posted April 26, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2018 Hi, 6 of us are going to check out Roatan with Victor Bodden's driver. We have our own equipment and want to snorkel for 1 hour in the waters off Grand Roatan Resort. How can we do it the most economical way? Should we access beach at a certain resort and walk down. What would the fee be?
Rare crewsweeper Posted April 26, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2018 Beach access is free. If you use the facilities at a resort, the resort may charge a fee. Victor's drivers are well aware of where to go. You can email him and inquire. As I recall Grand Rotan is on West Bay, thus the same shore line as any other West Bay beach resort. So really wouldn't matter unless you have a package or particular desire to use Grand Roatan.

What would the fee be? Have your driver drop you off on the road just passed West Bay Mall between Bananarama and Paradise Beach Club. Walk from the main road to the beach, when you get to the waterline turn left, walk down to the beach to the "wall", go in the water, snorkle one hour, return to your driver the opposite way you went in. There will be no fee. If you decide you want rest rooms or showers or loungers or food all of those things are payable.
Greenhopster Posted April 26, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted April 26, 2018 Crewsweeper and Guest 2000, Thank you for the info on snorkeling. Looks like we have a plan now. Jim
Rare crewsweeper Posted April 26, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 26, 2018 Just to add to Guest200's post. Your driver probably has an arrangement with one of the beach clubs/resorts. So while you do want to follow the directions for snorkeling, if you need to use the facilities and grab a bite, ask the driver. Also good idea to let Victor know your ideas, plans, especially if doing more than just snorkeling. Gives him and the driver an idea of what the day may be like. Guest 2000 Posted April 26, 2018 #6 Share Posted April 26, 2018 While the driver may have some arrangement with one of the resorts that doesn't mean you have to go to a resort they recommend. If I were looking for food on West Bay I'd look at the reviews not ask the driver. Now then if you're looking for a good homemade Honduran meal then ask the driver he may have an auntie who will cook for you.
