justusfour2014 Posted April 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2018 What's the good, bad and ugly of sailing in an aft balcony? Thanks for your reply! Sent from my SM-G930T using Forums mobile app
cajunfla Posted April 28, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 28, 2018 We had an aft balcony, near center ship, on the Sunshine in September 2015. Because of the shape of the ship, we had very little shade, and almost no breeze. Great view of where we had been. Also, we chose the wrong deck, as we were directly under the dining area, which changed to a live Latin band/dance area about 9pm until past 2am. bury me at sea Posted April 28, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 28, 2018 I have sailed in aft balconies on the Magic and the Breeze. Would book only deck 9 (I tried deck 7 first). As above poster said, no breeze and full sun most of the day. Deck 9 balconies get partial shade from the overhang of the Lido deck above. My sailings were July, August, and September. Perhaps later fall through spring wouldn't be so hot. The view is amazing. The wake is mesmerizing.
justusfour2014 Posted April 28, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted April 28, 2018 How's the motion? We've sailed on the dream in a balcony in the aft but not an extended aft balcony. Sent from my SM-G930T using Forums mobile app
bury me at sea Posted April 28, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 28, 2018 How's the motion? We've sailed on the dream in a balcony in the aft but not an extended aft balcony. Sent from my SM-G930T using Forums mobile app There's some shudder when backing into port but it isn't annoying. There maybe a bit more side to side motion than in a cabin on either side of the ship. I am not a good judge of whether it's enough to be bothersome since I actually enjoy feeling the sea. I have sailed three times in the aft extended balconies, mostly because the +180° view is nothing short of spectacular. It is also extremely quiet back there. Very little foot traffic in the hallways.
Bobrunner Posted August 2, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 2, 2018 We are on desk 6 aft, cabin 6444 over the Liquid Lounge. Is this a problem with late night sound issues?
