Cruisenewbie2018 Posted May 1, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2018 What is the best transportation from Caves to Horseshoe Beach?
SailBadtheSinner Posted May 1, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2018 (edited) by best, do you mean fastest or least expensive?? Least expensive would be a public bus but it would be slow. Fastest would be by taxi but it would be more expensive. By bus, you'll have a chance to meet and talk with locals. With a taxi, it'll be you and your traveling companions, and most likely, more comfortable. njhorseman Posted May 1, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2018 And to be specific about bus transportation, you would have to take two separate buses. The #1, 3, 10 or 11 to get from the caves to Hamilton and then the #7 from Hamilton to Horseshoe Bay. Given the unreliability of the bus system in recent times, with many runs being cancelled, I'm reluctant to recommend using the buses for such a long trip. I'm not going to deal with buses, just don't want to pay $30 for taxi. Trying to figure best use of our time. Only overnight in Bermuda is Monday 5/7, ship leaves Tuesday 5:30 PM. Thought we would ferry from backyard to St George on Monday morning. Spend two hours or so exploring , then taxi to caves and then taxi to Horseshoe and spend the afternoon then take minibus back to backyard. Or just do St George and caves on Monday, and take minibus from d backyard to Horseshoe on Tuesday morning spend the morning and lunch at beaches with plenty of time to get back to ship? I think that would be your best plan. On Monday you could also stop at the Swizzle Inn which is a short walk from the Caves. You're a member of the Dawn roll call which has the Dawn departing Boston on 5/4 and arriving in Bermuda on 5/6, and departing Bermuda on 5/8 which is 2 overnites in Bermuda. Was there an announced change to this itinerary?? You can rent motor scooters or a Twizy, you can hire a taxi or take the public bus. Those are your choices. I can understand not wanting to pay the high taxi fares and not dealing with buses, but what does that leave you? BTW, it is the Dockyard not the backyard.
