Another BCN departure question

My family has an 8am departure out of BCN on a Monday morning in August. I am hoping being there two hours early will be enough time. Does anyone know if this is typically a busy time at the airport?

Barcelona airport is always busy, I would highly recommend you to get there at least 3 Hrs before your flight!

Thank you for your suggestions. I always prefer being early over being late! I'm flying Norwegian, and I have heard that the desk doesn't open until two hours before departure so I am not sure if getting there at 5 a.m. would give me an advantage. Also, if it makes any difference, my flight will most likely depart from Terminal 2.

While 2+ hours is generally recommended at busy airports like BCN, a shorter window works when you are among the first out in the AM. Lines have not had time to back up at security, etc and if Norwegian tells you they do not open until 2 hrs pre flight then there is no reason to arrive any earlier than that. Sure some will want to be first in line but I would not look at earlier than 6:00AM.
