Rare vickykay Posted May 10, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2018 We stayed at the Hotel Calzaiuoli this past fall for several days before our TA, along with several others from our roll call. Great little hotel right on the pedestrian street and a great location to walk everywhere.. We did move to a room in the back after the first night as there was quite a bit of noise at night, so would recommend that you request a room in the back. If you go to,their web site and use the code they give you, you get a bit of a discount as well as complimentary minibar ( at least we all did this past Oct.). Enjoy Florence! Pavovsky Posted May 10, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 10, 2018 What is your budget per night? Might help with responses. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
rdt10 Posted May 10, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2018 We stayed at Hotel Santa Maria Novella and highly recommend it. It is next to the Santa Maria Novella Church and walking distance from the train station and the center of Florence. They were having a festival in Florence when we were there and many activities were in the square our room overlooked.
panmalv Posted May 11, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 11, 2018 Take a look at Hotel David. It was #1 on Trip Advisor when we went last summer, and it was exactly as advertised (in a good way)--one of the best hotels we've stayed in. The employees could not have been more friendly and helpful. Not right in the city, though--a beautiful but healthy walk along the water into the center of town (or a quick cab ride). prim8keeper Posted May 12, 2018 #6 Share Posted May 12, 2018 We stayed at the San Firenze Suites & Spa this past November on a land trip for several days. It was fabulous and we plan to stay there on our return trip. It is just across from the Bargello and within easy walking distance of anything you may want to see in Florence. The staff were all very good and they did whatever they could to make your stay better. The day we arrived we got there well before we would be able to check-in assuming we would just drop our bags and head out sightseeing. The staff insisted that we should relax a little after our train ride from Rome and help ourselves to breakfast. Afterwards they gave us a quick rundown of where everything we may want to see was in relation to the hotel and then showed us to our room where they had some prosecco waiting. They had already taken everything up for us. I'm sure occupancy of the hotel effects them being able to get your into your room early, but we were very impressed none the less with the level of service. Bruin Steve Posted May 12, 2018 #10 Share Posted May 12, 2018 Take a look at Hotel David. We stayed at the David last time we were in Florence. We had a rental car, but left it parked at the hotel the whole time we were there...and either walked or took the public bus depending on how tired we were. Yes, it is a little out of the way...but not that far...We'd just walk along the river, then across the Ponte Vecchio each time we wanted to go into the center of town. The hotel had a really outstanding little "Happy Hour" in the front patio area with a selection of appetizers and wine--all free...We had a nice time each evening having a glass of wine or two and chatting with the other hotel guests...The hotel itself was nice, clean and a good value for the money...Staff was very helpful... niccikatie Posted May 13, 2018 #11 Share Posted May 13, 2018 We stayed at the Hotel Plaza Lucchesi last June. It was fabulous! We would absolutely stay there again. Their breakfast was INCREDIBLE. The staff were friendly and helpful. They have a rooftop pool and bar that has spectacular views. It's just a couple blocks from Ponte Vecchio and located in Santa Croce and right on the river. http://www.hotelplazalucchesi.it/en/index.php?gclid=CIib3NjHgdsCFYKSxQIda4ILrQ&gclsrc=ds
