shot2bits Posted June 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2018 We’re calling into Skiathos when on the Aegean-Meze in August. It’s one of the few Greek islands we haven’t been to. Is it a tender port? What do you recommend to see/do there? Thanks. Sent from my iPad using Forums
SausPud Posted June 13, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2018 Skiathos is a tender to shore (as with Ermoupoli, Syros) This is all mentioned on your planner and booking. As with what to do, have a look at the available excursions for ideas. Everyone has different tastes and interests, so I can't list everything. shot2bits Posted June 13, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted June 13, 2018 There are no excursions, hence the question! Thanks Sent from my iPad using Forums
SausPud Posted June 13, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 13, 2018 Well, you could just wander around Skiathos Town, with its splashes of cerulean-blue, and huddles of local shops selling equally colourful hand-painted ceramics. or Head to the Bourtzi Peninsula. It used to be a fort and is now connected to the town by a slim bridge. Out here, you’ll find a cultural centre nestled within clusters of pine trees, a charming café perched by the water’s edge, and incredible views that stretch across the ocean. or even catch a bus to Koukounaries, one of the most photographed beaches in the Aegean. Just a half hour ride away from the town, this vanilla-coloured stretch is known for its extremely fine sand and transparent water.
shot2bits Posted June 13, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted June 13, 2018 Thanks for that. Sounds lovely, looking forward to seeing the island! Sent from my iPad using Forums
A Man called Hoss Posted June 16, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 16, 2018 Have done many beach holidays to Skiathos...it's a lovely but small Island. Lots of nice sandy beaches. The bus service from Skiathos town runs every 15 minutes at that time of year. Bus stop 16 at Aghia Paraskevi is opposite a lovely beach, or you could go all the way to the end of the Island at Meglio amias I think it's called. A long sandy "crescent" beach, water is shallow and warm. There is only one road, all along the south edge of the Island. Taxi's are easy and cheap. However, you coudn't go wrong simply walking about Town. (It's the only one). Also, It's the only place worth a visit if you are not into beaches. Check a google map out, it will give you a good appreciation.
