trinitytrees Posted June 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2018 hi all. We have booked an anchor fare and our cabin is on a guarantee basis. We have done this before but not on FO. Do you know when you are allocated your cabin and when do you get to know please, and does this include your dining time/room. Aldo we are on a short cruise sailing from Liverpool. Is it possible to drop luggage off before you embark/check in and then look around city and board later? Thanks in advance
tring Posted June 13, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2018 We have not used guarantee for a number of years, but in the past we have had room number when the luggage labels turned up (about 3 weeks before I think). Dining time/table details probably in cabin on arrival. We have sailed from Liverpool a number of times because we are local. Our experience (and information given when speaking to the bagage handlers) is that they normally accept luggage from about midday, but with the proviso the ship needs to be accepting the luggage as no storage space. Fred will not confirm this as they will/can not guarantee that will be the case. No probs walking out into the city as you are in the heart of it - a stroll along the waterfront is very pleasant. Do not get back late though as boarding may take less time than anticipated and they often sail quite early from Liverpool. We normally speak to a member of staff from the ship who is often by the embarkation gangway to ask likely time of our embarkation - if we can we tend to check in then go off until we are able to board. Priority for check in/embarkation given to suite passengers and those on the higher floors. If it is a short mini, (certainly if only one night), they have started only taking half the normal number of passengers so embarkation can be very quick. That will be the case if they say there will only be one sitting for dinner - with more than half capacity they need two sittings.

tring Posted June 15, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2018 You are welcome. Just a thought - if you are travelling to Liverpool by train the main train station (Lime Street) is closed for a couple of months - scheduled to re open on 30th July, I think. Hence will take longer to get to the city centre until then as it will be necessary to transfer to a local, metro style train on the outskirts of Liverpool.
